A classic but . . .

A classic but . . . I think these have been improved upon by several effect manufactures. Expensive and the jack sockets seemed quite loose. Try a few options and watch a few youtube reviews maybe, before you go for this pedal.

One of the best for metal

Every metal guitarist need this. Awesome

Classic option that should be in the shelf of every guitarist

Good overall overdrive pedal. This is how it all started in the end. I have used this pedal with Marshalls and Fender type tube amps. Goes always on my pedal board. I personally prefer this over the later versions of tube screamers when it comes to more 70's sound. Probably not the best pedal for someone playing metal, but the key of TS808 is that it can be always chained with other pedals easily. It really can be used as an extra magics everywhere.

The one and only tube sreamer

It's the one, the classic, the original. It does one thing and it's the best in it. Rock? you got it . Funk? why not. Blues? Absolutely. Simple controls perfect overdrive sound. Works best with tele and Les Paul. Adapter for power supply is in the box!!

Much more than SRV sound

I bought the pedal mainly for blues played through single coils without knowing the versatility of the sounds coming out of this box.

I am running the TS808 into a modified Blackface Twin (I had a master volume added so that I can get the tubes cooking without blowing my head off).

My application:

Tele: - neck pickup makes that blues sound everyone is chasing and does it effortlessly, just plug and play.

- bridge pickup does rock is you dime the drive and and 60's clean break-up at the other end.

LP: - it just turns it into a dream rock machine.

PRS CE24: - the higher output 8515 PUPs sound awesome with this pedal. I am using the coil tap more than ever as the TS808 just makes the differences more noticeable (in a good way).

Cons: - on/bypass switch doesn't "click" when pressed

- the LED is barely visible when the pedal is ON

It stacks very well with other overdrive pedals. I have a Klon type pedal in front of it and when I have both on they create a very pleasing distortion sound.

My final thought: it makes me play differently in a positive way. It helped me come up with new ideas, encourages me to hit the guitar harder and just gives me an overall satisfactory feeling. GET ONE!

Awesome distortion pedal no wonder it's a favorite. I've always struggled with finding a good dist.pedal but not anymore. I totally recommend this one.

classic

Classic SRV tones with this, great as a clean boost when you back off the drive, i ,prefer the switch on the TS9, but I prefer the sound of this.

A benchmark pedal

Maybe the no. 1 pedal ever. A sound that is the reference point to all other overdrive pedals. For for blues and rock - hard rock, and '60's/'70's rock.

Superb

I should have added this to my rig 20 years ago.

In my opinion it sounds best using the dirty channel on a tube amp. It will elevate your tone 10 fold.

Ibanez TS808

For fans of the Stevie Ray Vaughan sound then you've come to the right place. The Ibanez TS808 is the model SRV used in his hey-day and to get those rich, cutting sounds you couldn't ask for anything better.

It can work in many other genres and styles also. Sometimes I use it to go from clean to roaring and other times, when the channel on the amp is already distorted, I simply use it as a volume boost.

The sound is just that touch more authentic than the sightly cheaper model of Ibanez TS9 and for that reason, if you have the cash t expend I'd opt for the TS808.

One of the most iconic pedals

This little green stompbox is one of the most iconic pedals ever made. Guitar legends such as SRV are one of the most well-known users of the green Ibanez Tubescreamer.

The Tubescreamer offers a very transparent, crisp and clear boost to your amplifier. Wheather you´re in clean mode and want to add some crisp or simply play in an already overdriven sound an need more punch for you solo, the TS 808 does it´s job. Based on the old original there is nothing to moan about this pedal. The chasis is really solid build and after years of use there aren´t any complaints to notice, wheather it is in build quality or sound.

The price seems heavy, but as its such an iconic and well sounding classic pedal it´s worth every penny for me.

The Little Green Machine

I have been looking for an overdrive pedal like this for a while. I had bought and used a Visual Sound Route 66 overdrive pedal for a while and the overdrive channel on my Fender Hot Rod III but nothing compares to this. If you want a light overdrive tone this is the overdrive pedal to get. Even if you want a really dirty overdrive tone just turn the overdrive up and you will get what you want.

The only negative thing about this pedal is its power input. It is a little bit more awkward but if you have the right adapter or if your power supply has the right adapter which Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus comes with you should be fine.

I highly recommend this pedal to all guitar players.
