Can't go wrong with this noise gate

I was looking for something to cancel out the noise when I bump the gain from my Friedman BE OD pedal and after some research I decided to go with the Decimator.

You will not be disappointed if you go with it. It is extremely simple to use and I turn the knob usually just above the 12 O'clock position to cancel the noise and my metal tone became really clear and when I lift my hands off the fretboard there is no static noise. It does everything I want it to.

It is used by one of my favourite bands Disturbed. Guitarist Dan Donegan has it as an irreplaceable part of his rig and if you are looking for a nice noise gate for a good metal sound, this is a top choice.

Build wise it looks solid, but the reflective metallic looks can make the text a bit difficult to read, not that you'll need to read much, but it's the only con I can think of.

Top of the top

It doesn't suck the tone as many other pedal do, you just have to adjust it to your needs. It can take a beating, the construction is very well made.

The battery can be switched with ease.

Where has this thing been all my life?

One knob to turn until no more buzz and hiss from guitar. Done. Sure it's not a cheap pedal, but even for a bedroom player like me with fairly high gain amps, this thing is fantastic.

Only downside I can find is the reflective mirror like surface which looks a bit silly. Matte would have been better. But its not like this is a major flaw in any sense...

Great & Simple

If you have feedback issues, put it in front of the amp. If you have noise issues, put it in the loop. If you have both, get the Decimator G.

This is the gold standard for taming noise in high-gain applications!

1 Star knocked off for the footswitch, I had to fiddle a bit recently to get it switching reliably, but it was just the actual microswitch being slightly too low, easy fix that I anticipate isn't present on all specimens.

Best noise gate I ever used

Tried Boss NS-2, MXR Smart Gate, Rocktron - this is the one to buy ;)

Flawless

Pretty much just the best noise gate there is. Simple controls, and no BS. Just works awesomely to clean up your sound and remove noise.

What a great pedal!

When it comes to noise reduction I doubt it comes more effective or simple than this.

The Decimator II from ISP has the same form factor as the BOSS pedal range featuring a large hinged footswitch rather than the usual button type latching footswitch. Finished in silver it looks rather tasty and the rugged metal housing is bomb proof.

There?s only one control, a single threshold knob (-70db to +10db) which makes the pedal a doddle to use. I?ve been using it as part of a home studio to tame extraneous noise with some fairly high-gain rock and metal tones.

My rig features a number of valve-based preamps and the Decimator II is able to eliminate most of the unwanted hiss and hum from the signal. All you need to do is rotate the threshold knob until you have the desired amount of noise reduction and you?re done. Fantastic.

I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for an effective noise reduction pedal for their board.

Eliminate Unwanted Feedback.

I play in a metal band so a lot of the music involves quick stops and starts with the riffing. It also involves playing at high volumes. Nothing is more annoying than playing a riff and having to do quick stops only to hear a loud feedback noise inbetween the stops. I bought this item hoping to eliminate that issue and it works beautifully.

It's very easy to use. You just turn the dial clockwise until the feedback disappears. It doesn't affect the tone of your amp either. I use it in rehearsal and live situations and now that I have it I never want to go back to not using one.

It has a nice visual look to it too and is really simple to use.

Don't be a slave to feedback. Free yourself with this awesome item.

Item arrived in good time and perfect condition.

The best on the market

In my opinion the best sounding, and most clear NoiseReduction Pedal on the market. I tried few, but this blew me away. As good as no sound coloring when engaged. Almost impossible to notice any difference in sound. So if you need a noise gate, get definitely this one!!!

Features... they could add an additional button to control when the tone gets cut, and when it get released. Other than that it's a killer pedal.

Very transparent for usage in the loop

If your amp's loop is transparent and you don't have too much noise to begin with, the 'basic' Decimator is plenty good enough. It's very easy to use with just a Threshold knob, and it adjusts speed automatically with your playing.

The pedal has a buffered bypass, if that matters to you.

ISP Technologies Decimator Pedal V-II

This is an excellent Noise suppressor pedal.

This does not effect the tone at all and I am gigging with this pedal for the last 2 years. I use it with a Marshall JVM410H Stack and play Metal so I have the overdrive gain quiet high and I like my high treble setting so feedback has always been a problem BUT with this pedal there is no feedback whatsoever.

Best buy in about 20 years as it erased my biggest pain in the ass......feedback.

Only bad point, the battery connector inside broke when removing battery, common issue with these type of pedals.

But i use a Boss adapter so not the end of the world.

Decimator

Really great pedal keeps your guitar under control. Great for any style shines in metal with fast stop start chugging. Really helps stop your guitar picking up signals from other electrical equipment and stopping noise and feedback from your amp.

The best of the best

I bought this ISP based on the reviews I had seen online. When I recieved it I was first impressed with the build quality, and weight of the pedal. It couldn't be more simple to use. Just plug in, and adjust to your liking.

I use this in my as the first thing my guitar signal meets(after the tuner). I find the single knob is alot more effective than other noise reduction pedals that have a lot more knobs and dials. For this, it seems the term "less is more" couldn't be more true. I have even used it as a kill switch, by turning the setting all the way to the right, and quickly turned it back to a noise suppressor by turning it back again.

I can say as well, in comparison to other big brand noise suppressors, this one does not suck tone, as most people fear with these type of pedals. It is one of the best noise suppressors I have tried and cannot recommend it enough.

Amazing pedal

I purchased this to tame the single coils on my Fender Jazz bass, as well as the unwanted hiss from cranking the gain on my Microtubes B7K. This pedal is absolutely phenomenal at getting rid of unwanted noise, and does not affect your tone at all (well, I can't notice any degradation anyway).

The pedal is built like a tank. It feels extremely solid, the single knob is connected well to the body, the in/out jacks are metal and hold onto patch cables very well. All this does mean the unit is rather heavy, but I'd rather something be over-engineered than poorly made!

Overall, there is a reason that this is pretty much the "go to" noise killer pedal. You pay for what you get! Highly recommended.

Nice.

This is great keeps my sound under control and does not colour the sound one but easy controllable and would recommend to any one wanting a noise reduction pedal. Great stuff.

Best Noise Gate Out There!

This is my favourite noise gate out there, it only has 1 knob which sets the threshold so you don't need to worry about anything else because the other settings are already optimised! There is no loss of tone when in use or bypassed which some other gates are known for. I certainly cannot fault the ISP Decimator at all, and I would recommend any one to buy one of these for high gain amps as it will instantly make your tone much tighter!

Isp decimator noise supresor

Definatly best noise suppresor which i ever owned, better than boss by miiiiiles and all other shit they offer om marknade.

Build like tank, could handle III world word and survive it,just like rats and roaches.

Operating it is realy easy, just one knob which takes away hiss and all unwanted noise

Most important thing is that it does not sucks tone or cut long notes while soloing even with high noise suppresing.Builg like a tenk and i love it's silver colour.

Never ever had any problem on stage or prectice place with it.

Super cool feature u can link 2 of them together controling 2 amps.

Would buy it again in case it would be stolen elller lost!

Best noisegate

By far the best noise gate for guitar at the moment. Its metal casing makes it really durable but at the same time contributes to it being really heavy. It has one knob that controls the threshold. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star is due to the fact that it would benefit from having a release time knob. I play metal music that needs quick in and out gate settings so if it had a quicker release time It would be perfect. I usually keep one in front of the amp and the other in the effects loop of the amp just to make everything super quiet.

Noise and feedback? What is this? ;)

This noise gate is amazing and dosen't effect tone at all...I use multiple pedals overdrive and distortion for gain and also EQ to push the clean channel in my amp....

I found the holy grail of pedals that's eliminating the unwanted fee-back when I stand near my amp and just hold my guitar without touching the strings.

The fit and finish on this pedals is beautiful...THe single knob works perfectly, very simple to adjust and finds the sweet spot for eliminating unwanted noise very quickly.

Unless your already exsperiancing unwanted gain noise from an idlle amp (high gain sounds) this pedal will only cure this issue.

When I use just an overdrive pedal this noise gate gets turned off. It isn't needed and will cut off your signal.

The instruction booklet inside shows a recommended way to use this pedal...It is advised to be used at the very end of a pedal train. I use my and plug it directly into the front of the amp. You can use it in the effects loop but it's pointless if your not running gain pedals through the loop.

Anything ran after this pedal on a signal path will be cut off so this is why this pedal is placed at the end of a pedal board and then into the amp.

Digital interface ie: POD's allow you to run a simulated noise gate in the middle but that's all simualted computer generated effects.

A real analog noise gate like this one is ran at the end of the path...

This pedal is a little pricey but worth it's weight once you get it and see how well they actually work. I would recommend this pedal to anyone whom loves to run a hot signal through their amp and has lots of feedback from gain.

Best pedal noisegate

This one is pricey but well worth it. If you definitely need a good pedal noisegate, look no further. I've tested this against tons of other noisegates including :

Rocktron Hush

Boss NS-2

Behringer NR-300

Line6 Pod HD integrated

Rocktron Chameleon integrated noisegate

MXR Smartgate

The only gates have come close are the integrated ones (which is to be expected) and the Smartgate wasn't bad either, but the Decimator just blows everything away in the pedal range.

It doesn't take away your tone (NS-2 did), it's very sturdy (the NR-300 is made of plastic) and it's not the most expensive pedal ever. For the price, it's great.

The only thing it degrades is sustain but that's also to be expected. Just turn it off when you're doing a solo. The only thing that is lacking is the loop functionality that the NS-2 has. Other than that, easily the best pedal noise gate I've ever used.
