Incredible

I never leave reviews, but the Alpha Base has impressed me so much it has left me no choice. It is an absolutely fantastic sounding machine, it sounds more like a work of art rather than a product. I would describe the sound as warm, juicy, and natural. It hits quite hard while remaining gentle on the ears. I have owned and played a lot of quality drum machines and it quite effortlessly sounds much better than any of them. It's sequencer isn't as advanced as an Elektron or Cirklon, but if you need that kind of control it has full midi implementation for all the channels and their parameters. That being said, the limitations of it's sequencer tends to inspire rather than inhibit, you get very musical results quickly with it. Build quality feels quite solid and sturdy, nothing beats steel and wood. The UI is also quite easy to work with, very minimal menu diving and the parameter layout becomes muscle memory after just a couple sessions of use. Bottom line, it's the most fun I have had with an instrument in a long time and it simply sounds better than anything else being made now or in the past.

An amazing device in its quality

A drum machine with endless possibilities for creating a kicking sound. Not complicated to use. Top quality

Sonic Dominance

AB for Alpha Base and AB for Absolutely Brilliant drum machine!

Massive sound and massive capabilities.

Total funky house techno machine, in one.

You could do a live set just with this machine.

I have no regrets with taking the step of investing in the Alpha Base, it's a 'keeper' for sure!

Great Sound. Bad Interface.

I purchased this box with the intention of using it for live performance.

I already own the Elektron Analog RYTM which i think is a very good drum Machine but sadly, it is "too much" to use intuitively in a live performance beyond simply muting things and some basic actions.

I was in the market for something as simple as a Roland X0X style Drum Machine, but with a high spec sound and the ability to be able to shape and push the sound enough to not get bored with it..

So essentially, something as playable and enjoyable as a Roland TR9089 / TR808 but without being limited to the same sound pallete for the rest of human history.

the Alpha base seems to offer this, and it does have an impressive sound but for my use case, it is not suitable

the thing is built well and feels solid and is well spec'd with its features etc and would be a great drum / sound design tool for studio use, but using it live felt like more work than it should be.. so, be aware of the User Interface limits

best drum machine on the market

A complicated beast that needs taming. if you are looking for easy sounds look elsewhere.

If you are looking for fresh and really good quality sounds, then this if for you.

The number one drum machine

I have ordered my Jomox alpha base about 2 months ago and got it in last week. And boy is it worth the wait! The sounds are fat like i've never heard before. The combination between the 2 full analog voices and the sample base instruments which go through analog filters and the FM synth make this beast a very complete unit. You could even go as far as doing a full live set on it. It does have a bit of a learning curve but if you're willing to go through the manual and play around with it for a day or two, you'll get a long way.

The built quality is superb except for the fact that if you pick it up and tilt it you hear something inside being a bit loose. This might be some cables on the inside or something along those lines. I have heard this from most alpha base owners so i guess it's just the way they are built.

I am using it for studio purposes only at the moment but once i know it like the back of my hand it's definately going with me on the road.

If you are looking for a great versitile drum machine with a power like no other then look no further. At this moment nothing can beat the Jomox alpha base on the sound department!
