Good for micing kick drums
I use one of these in my studio to mic kick drums inside and out with a Sennheiser e902 or a Shure sm7b, both of which are fairly hefty chunks of metal. The boom arm doesn't dip at all once it's been tightened, even when fully extended.
Mic positioning is straightforward and flexible, the boom arm lets you place the mic wherever you like. The tripod legs don't take up that much space either.
I can't really fault this mic stand. It's designed to do one job (hold and position a mic on a low-profile source) and, as far as I can tell, it does that job flawlessly.
Works for kick drum (inside)
I bought this as I needed a very low mic stand for miking the inside of the kick drum. The microphone I use is not very heavy (Audix D4), so I haven't pushed the stand as far as stability goes (the boom arm is so, so), but it feels stable enough for this application.
It's an ok mic stand, well worth the price.
Love this little stand
I use this little stand as much as I can because its one of my sturdier mic stands!
It's stood up to rigorous use and the mic isn't going to move unlike some mic stands.
Worth the extra money over the cheaper models.
Classic K&M quality
Very useful for gutar amp or kick drum.
Robust and practical
I have bought this stand to be used for drum and guitar recordings.
Right now, I am using it for snare micing (below), bass drum micing (inside and outside) and also guitar and bass cabinets.
In all of these applications, the stand is doing a great job. I don't think I am ever going to buy a different one for these applications.
Overall, the stand is sturdy and robust. All the screws, pivots and joints are well built and will last a long time if handled properly.
The only thing where I thought it was lacking was when micing the inside of a bass drum. If you have a deep bass drum or if you need to get really deep in with the mic (just behind the batter head) you might get problems with mics that are heavy. In these situations, it is difficult to keep the stand ffrom toppling over. You will need to tighten the base screw really fast to stop the boom arm flom gliding down slowly.
Other than that, it is a great stand and I would definitely buy it again. It's so much more robust than any of the cheap models and it's still reasonable in price.
Sturdy
Had plenty of microphone stands in the past but this has to be one of the more sturdy ones I've used. All the joints and pivots hold well and have lasted longer than any of the millenium stands I have bought as a cheaper option. Well worth the small amount of extra cash.
Great stand for heavy Kick mic's
This is a really nice stand, and great for the money, does a very good job of staying still even on a busy, bouncing stage. I use it to hold me Beta 52A And have had no problem on both Kick and Floor Tom.
I really like the K&M stands in general and this is no exception. Does its job very well and it feels stable and like its going to last for many years. Really good for micking up cabs and kickdrums.
great stand
Heavy, steady, solid and really comfortable
Exactly what you need for bass drum and small amps (for which an ordinary stand is too high to make the mic reach the right spots on the speaker).
K&H never decieve!
Amazing!
These are the ONLY mic stands worth buying in my opinion. When you have musicians adjusting stands without supervision they get broken, cheap stands will fall to bits in days, but these will last and last and last! If used properly I doubt they will ever need replaced! Tough, Sturdy, Well built and a great size, easy to adjust, and they don't droop down constantly like cheaper stands!
Great stand.
Perfect for using with a bass drum microphone. Sturdy and easily manipulated into the correct position. I'd recommend for use in a live setting. Fantastic quality for the price. It won't last forever so if you're doing a lot of gigging look for something a little more heavy duty.
Cab Mic Stand
After seeing our lead guitarist/singer getting hung up or catching the old mic stand, I decided to give this one a go. With it's smaller dimensions it fits on stage easily and with minimum protrusions. I've used it now through the last few gigs with no problem. It's well made, sturdy, locks well in position and hasn't snagged the guys once. I have just ordered another to use for the Hi-Hat mic.
Great little stand for a kick mic...
I use this stand both in the studio and live at gigs with a busy band and I am very happy with it. It's a good quality piece of equipment. I have two minor gripes with it. Firstly, it's a little two easy to start undoing the reverse thread when you try to adjust the position without loosening the knob. But this is a common problem with many mic stands. Secondly, the tightening nut on the angle boom could be a little bit better quality. It works fine, but sometimes it feels like you might be about to over tighten it. Aside from that, it would have gotten full marks from me.
A great microphone stand.
Looks good and works even better. Not much to say about it, it gets the job done and is very adjustable, not to mention affordable. A great purchase!
Good stand for drums and amplifiers
I'm using this stand for bass drum and amplifiers, and it's great for those applications. Can be swiveled and set to the right length to for example put the stand outside the bass drum and have the microphone on the inside and right next to the drum head.
Solid
This item is unremarkable except for the fact that it hasn't fallen apart, been broken, or done anything unexpected after 7 years of neglect and indifference to its well-being. I have dropped it onto pub floors and tables, lobbed it heedlessly into the boot of my car, crushed it under a weighty array of poorly packed gig kit, even played a bit of softball with it.
The stand abides.
Perfect kick drum microphone stand!
Do you look for stable, durable stand for your heavy bass kick drum microphone? Then this is a perfect solution for the price! It is perfectly built -solid materials have been used, and moreover it has five years of warranty!
Quality
If you are thinking about getting a quality piece of gear that won't let you down and will last the rigours of life on the road week in week out then this has got to be it. K&M brand is one of the few named brands that I think is worth spending a little bit more for, as in the end it does make economic sense when you don't have to replace it so soon as other cheap versions.
The placement/positioning of a bass drum mic with this stand was precise and sturdy - just what I was looking for and I would recommend you try one of these -you will be glad you did.
grate little stand
this is a grate little mic stand for anything low its shorter than the ushual short stands so its grat for getting your mic right into the kik drum its verry sturdy and dousnt droop the boom is also extendable so its verry versitile and can hold up hevey mics without drooping even when fully extended grate produced 5*
It's K&M
Good quality. Does what it should. You will almost never get disappointed when buying K&M. So if you need it put a microphone in front of your amp or your bass drum, this is the stand for the job. Good luck.
