Kai KTI-5000 Reviews
Looking great, sounding ok
The ukulele looks great with a lot of details. The wood looks awesome, and the varnish is shiny, but not too much to be annoying. However, the volume is rather low. The hole on the top has only aesthetic value; it adds nothing to the sound. The uke is great for accompaniment and strumming, but it doesn't stand out as a solo instrument. The price is jutified by the quality of materials and finish.
Fantastic ukulele for the money
Very well finished. Excellent tuners, perfect action, sturdy gig bag. Sounds great with Aquila fifths tuning strings.
Fantastic quality and service.
I bought this ukulele as an upgrade to an all laminate, but really decent Tenor of a very famous brand, that I owned.
I cannot describe in words, the difference in sound and build quality between my previous one and the Kai kti-5000.
Just the sound of it leaves me speechless!
So many frequencies, so much richness and so much sustain.
The instrument itself is so gorgeous up close, I am almost drooling when I am looking at it!
For me it is perfect.
As far as my experience with having it sent to me internationally, everything was perfect too.
The packaging was as safe as it can get, the shipping time really fast and the the instrument itself arrived in a flawless state.
I highly highly recommend it, especially if this is going to be your first all solid wood ukulele, you are in for a treat!
A little something about the nut width, it is listed as 36.5mm here and I believe it is listed as 37mm in the official Kai website, but I took a measure tape and measured mine at 35mm.
To me that is perfectly fine, in fact I prefer it at 35mm.
But to anyone who does not like that, there is some confusion around this subject.
Nice ukulele but not all solid wood
This product is falsely marketed as all solid and it unfortunately isn't. Top is all solid, maybe even the back but the sides are definitely laminated wood. You can see for yourself on the images. Look at that top hole on the side. Ukulele is really well made and looks great. Nice attention to details. That side hole is more gimmick than it really helps. Nice gig bag. Sounds nice but nothing special.
Superb build and tone, and great VFM
This is my first tenor ukulele, and first from Kai, but I have to say I'm very impressed with the fit and finish of it. The tone is nice and warm, with decent sustain and string separation. The tuners work smoothly, and there's no binding at all on the nut, or issues with the frets. I quite like the extra volume from the side-soundport too, it's a nice touch and really makes a difference to the player! The woods that it's built with are quite beautiful too, it looks a lot more expensive than it is.
Overall, highly recommended - I can't fault it at all for the price!
