Kala U-Bass Spalted Maple 4 NT

I generally like it. The woodwork on the inside of the instrument could be a bit better. The backplate is screwed on, not magnetic, unlike on some other models - this is just a note, not a downside, at least not personally. I like its open-back tuners, tuning the strings is not that straightforward though. You have to pull them and make big turns. The frets are well processed - no sharp edges. It produces a pleasing acoustic sound. I like the feel of its Thundergut strings, but I find them harder to play fast than metal strings, because of the material. They are slightly sticky. I find the E string a bit quirky - the sound is muddier than on the others and sounds slightly out of tune when played close to the sound hole. I prefer the sound it produces when it's tuned slightly flat...
Harley Benton UkeBass FL OPNT

Irrespective of the relatively low price, this is an excellent u-Bass. It plays well out of the box and even comes with a battery fitted. The strings are also very playable although each player will develop a liking for a particular brand and type of string over time. Build quality is as good as it gets. The wood used is well finished and the fit of joints is also very good. The hardware is good quality and the initial setup of bridge height was about right as delivered. This is a very playable U-Bass and I am really glad that I have it.
Kala U-Bass Bamboo 4 NT

I was a bit hesitant getting the bamboo model because there weren't any proper sound demos available at the time of purchase. I got the bamboo for two reasons: one is that it seems to be more resistant to dry winter conditions than many other woods, other is that is environmentally more sustainable. It also looks really nice. I'm glad I bought it, the sound was actually better than expected. Even volume on every string, no buzzing, and it sounds even better when plugged in (straight into mixer). It's also really nice played acoustically which is how I play it most of the time. The polyurethane strings can get sticky but if you don't like them you can always replace them. I love them for their sound.

This looks like a toy but once you see it, feel it and play it you will be confident that this is a quality, professional bass in a miniature and really light package. The solid mahogany looks great and gives it a nice acoustic sound but its real value comes in plugging it into any bass or keyboard combo or a PA powered monitor, where you and everyone who hears it will be delighted with its amazing sound. I can recommend checking out the YouTube vidoes, especially the one entitled Kala Mahogany U-Bass by cranbournemusic as it is great to hear a jazz bassist demonstrate it.

It is great fun to play and the perfect practice bass for when you're sitting on the Sofa, in fact, i tend to have a spot on the wall for every stringed instrument I own, this one doesn't have a spot there, since it's spot is either laying on the sofa right beside me, so it's quick to grab when I have an Idea or want to practice something, or just jam with whatever's on the Screen, or basically everywhere I go when I go out, it's small, and light and therefore it's easy to take anywhere and it has already been great in jam sessions, I do recommend a small amp though if you're playing with other acoustic instruments, especially steel string guitars as they are a bit louder than this little bass, I have so far used my JBL bluetooth speaker as an amp, but I have just ordered a small...

I moved to different country not long ago and needed some tool to practice and do songwriting stuff on the go without putting heavy load on my wallet. So I bought this thing because it seemed affordable and good looking. The truth is it is really fun to play Harley Benton U-Bass. That what I unexpectedly discovered the moment I pulled it from the nice gigbag included in the package. It has surprisingly deep, almost throaty double-bass-like sound which I didn't expect from such a small instrument. The tuning stability and intonation are decent. Onboard preamp and tuner both work good (2 CMOS-style battaries are included). The frets are a bit scratchy on the ends (plastic neck binding doesn't help much here) but not drastically. There are also some minor (barely visible) finish...

The bass is constructed from laminate with very thin mahogany facings. I was a little disappointed by this as the description states the top back and sides are mahogany. You can clearly see the composition of the laminate by examining the edges of the body. What looks like a lighter coloured binding is in fact the core of the laminate. The laminate is quite thick making the instrument feel on the heavy side. Other negatives are the layout of the tuners on the headstock which results in the A string coming into contact with the windings of the E string on the adjacent tuner. I also didn?t like the operation of the active electronics which automatically switch to tuner mode when plugged in. You have to press the tuner button to hear the instrument every time it's plugged in. (This bass...
Cascha Bass Ukulele Set

Me encanta!!!

It's my first bass. I have a injured wrist and wanted something that could be played with very little pressure on the keys, and this little devil definitely delivers on that. Plus, it looks super cool. I can't really comment on the technical aspects, since I have no previous experience with bass guitars. I still need to figure out how to attach a strap to it, and the strings are a bit sticky sometimes. Honestly, it makes me laugh how this tiny thing can output those low noises and I'm having a blast learning to play it :)
