Klark Teknik Mic Booster CT1

Great tool to have on hand!

Great to have a bunch of spares of these on hand at all times / in all bags and rigs in case needed when doing a lot of sessions in various places.

One of mine became defective after a few months, but otherwise no issues at all.

Perfect for my SM-57

Used to boost the signal on my SM-57.

It gives a nice hefty boost in volume with a clear signal.

Very happy.

Worthless

Noisy, cuts low end, increase gain too little.

So I bough it in order to use shure sh55 with scarlet 4i4, since it's too quite.

As a result although it makes mic louder it's also noisier, that makes it unusable.

Affordable alternative

Have been using the CT1 for a few years now to boost my Rode PodMic. Never failed, never did anything weird, worked out of the box. Set and forget.

Integrates seamlessly to your rig

The small box format was already very good, but this thing is awesome, you just put it at the end of the mic without needing an additional cable to add it somewhere between the mic and the mixer. Yes the mike ends up being a little longer, but his thing is very narrow and light, you can also put it in the other end in the mixer, depending on where the inputs are located.

Very good amount of boost, perfect for my needing, very clean also.

Definitely a must have if you need a mic booster. Sturdy construction also.

A bit fragile but does the job

Not super well constructed, feels a bit shaky already after a few plug-in and out, but it makes my rodecaster sound very good, feels compressed already.

Does what it's supposed to do

You cannot go wrong!

The first thing you notice when you pick up the mic booster is it's weight. It's very heavy for it's size, which is a good thing. It has a premium feel, even though it's price does not set that expectation. The connectors can be a bit stiff, but may loosen.

But the most important thing remains: the sound.

It's simple: you won't notice it's there. There is no hiss, hum or buzz whatsoever. It gives a massive boost in signal, with no noticeable side-effects. Yes, if you crank the gain up to 11, you might hear a slight hiss. But that's true of most audio equipment.

For the price, you cannot go wrong!

Not quite a Fet-Head

In comparison to the Triton Audio Fet Head, this is darker in sound because of lower input resistance, so it lacks in "air",

so I have a Fet Head for vocals and acoustic instruments and 2 CT1s for electric guitars or room mics, which was the most value-for-money solution, when the CT1 was 29€. But for 45€, when the FetHead is 66€?

Moving on, handling could be better, the female plug can be a pain to lock and the male plug can only be plugged into cables and not into snakes, consoles or interface inputs.

Conclusion: For 29€ it was definitely worth the money, for 45... I'd definitely buy a Fet Head instead.
