Silky smooth

I ordered this set for my Sire D5 50s-style single coil Precision bass, making it sound punchy yet warm and smooth with that iconic P-bass growl.

The feel under the fingers is smooth as a baby's bottom.

Fantastic set of strings!

I've tried several brands before, but LaBellas are the absolute best flatwounds in my opinion.

Great set of strings

The strings have a great warm tone if you want to go for this type of sound. They are a bit more expensive that rounds but they last very very long. Because of their flat surface they don't seem to corrode or trap debris like the rounds do.

They are also less clunky when you fret them and less noisy when you slide your hand so they can help eliminate some unwanted noises. They can also work nice on a Jazz Bass, they are just not suitable for slapping like you would expect from flats.

Good sound, even better playing experience

I bought these for my Squier bass in search for that good old motown sound. It does sound nice, though I don't think it makes that much of a difference compared to the regular strings that came with the bass. However I prefer to play these, the surface of the strings is just so smooth and it's really joyful to just slide the fingers. So overall I think I'll stick to these.

Good sounding smooth strings

Very smooth strings with good tone and feel, they are a bit expensive but since they are flatwounds they can be used for a very long time, very happy with these!

Old-school tone for days

For old-school flats tone, these are great strings. To me, they sound good right out of the box. Of course with time they loose high-end and become even darker and thumpier. Perfect for Motown P-bass.

I eventually replaced them however, with Dunlop Stanless Steel Flatwounds. The Dunlops sound just about the same, especially when they are broken in, but are slightly less rigid and easier on the fretting hand. The Dunlops are now on the bass, and LaBellas in the drawer, for backup. This is only personal preference though, and the difference is really minor. I still highly recommend these LaBellas.

Beautiful strings

Lovely fat tight controlled sound. I put them on a fretted Harley Benton JB-75MN NA Vintage Series and it sounds totally incredible.

Perfect for Motown

Pros:

Very high quality strings. Have used them in the studio for a while now and they still sound great.

Great sounding flats for a P-bass to get that old school Motown tone. Add a foam mute and you have a perfect Jamerson sound.

Cons:

Expensive for a set of strings.

Big fat sound, very rich. Ideal for fretless.

Rapid dispatch. Cheers
