LD Systems Sub 88

Was sceptic at first to get this as my home sub. But when it arrives it was big and heavy. I added acoustic fibres inside the box. Mostly on the vent to eliminate wind noise and I also extended the port a bit more deeper near the back to eliminate mid frequencies. Speaker is already wired as isobaric so can wire it directly if only used as mono. End results are the best! Pure low frequencies even at low volume.

Great!

Works well with the LD Systems satellites, altough I needed a 15x15 graphic EQ on the total signal to achieve the right balance of frequencies for the sound I wanted. The 6" satellites are a bit lacking the highs, while this unit is huge on bass. I suppose a speaker management system like the T-racks would be even better, but for me the GEQ was also available and worked out very well.

Build quality is excellent, and there are rubber contact pads on both the short and the long sides.

Unexpensive but well made subwoofer, I am using it for home audition into a multisubwoofer active setup. The proper location for each subwoofer in room should be find to have an uniform response under 100Hz. Because of the bandpass design the response drop faster both on high frecvencies and very low ones, but this should be taken as an advantage in my case.

Another setup that I have in mind but not yet verified is as stands for a pair of bookshelf speakers.
