Line6 Helix Guitar Processor Reviews
Like
Very simply to use. I like it!
best processor
I bought this proc and I very happy man
Excellent for playing, recording, and time management (great saver)
I find this device to be excellent and joy to use. I gave only four stars in the features/sound quality only to highlight that I am not satisfied with most of the presents available out-of-the-box. But since there is a huge community and lots of excellent instructional YT channels out there (e.g., John Nathan Cordy) the sound can be tweaked to where it needs to be, but for the novice like me the factory presets are no starter at all.
Great gear
I love it and i am enjoying performing live and recording with great tone.
What can I say?!?! Wow
Took a chance and believed the hype. If you spend time with this, you can easily go out and gig it. No amp, no effects board just Helix. Also amazing in the studio to sculpt any sound you can imagine.
Good Tool
Using this pedal for both Lead guitar and Voice at the same time. Perfect solution for guitarists who sing as well in the band and want to experiment with voice effects.
Still good
The stock sounds are good, but not great. Once you put good IR's in it, the game changes. It's so good and powerful. 4 years of use and it still rocks.
Versatile unit for home recordings
Works perfectly. I use it as home unit, has most of the things you might need as a up-and-coming guitarist/vocalist. Many effects to choose from
Biggest pros: many amps to choose from, apparently you only need headphones or simple cab the rest will give you Line6, surprising sound (you can adjust "mic settings" to make your own sound). Nice distortion effects and other stuff.
Flaws: looper is weak (one channel, small buffer) - if you need looper to practise it is fine, but if you need looper for wider usage you might need something more. Also the foot switch is kind of hard to use.
The Helix is unbelievable.
The Helix is unbelievable.
This is hands down the best money I've spent on guitar equipment.
Sounds amazing, and has very flexible inputs/outputs.
The Helix has many options to built a good tone , it is complex and you have too keep that in mind when you buy one. Because it is complex you can easily build tones but to build good tones you might actually stick some time to it , to learn the way you properly use it but after you do , you get very good tones , especially for Modern metal genre.
The feature are way more then enough. The Quality is SOLID. you can rest assure nothing will brake easily , all you have to care about is the screen , but there are many screen protectors you can buy on the market. Compared to a Kemper , this is way better in my opion since you can manipulate the sound you want way much better.Line 6 also has a pretty active community and a site for sharing patches. The other day, I heard a song, and was pretty intrigued by the sound on the guitar. I watched a video of the band to see what he was using for an instrument (Les Paul) and then went to line 6’s site and searched for the song in the presets archive. Sure enough, grabbing the preset from the archive and plugging in my Les Paul, bam, I’ve got the sound.
This is 10/10 guitar processor, hope you enjoy it !
Helix Floor
I am a professional player / musician and I have 3-4 different setups including various pedal boards and also analog STOMP pedals.
Once you go analog with full tubes is hard to go to any processors...but i managed to get good tones with my toys.
WHY Helix?
Well, once i decided to make some changes in one of my rigs i started to look around for a Guitar Processor. My initial budget was 400 - 600 euros.. but my "brother" guitar player told me... "Go Big, or Go Home! :))
So, I got the Helix.
I freaking love it. First day i spent 9 hours straight and got myself 2 presets with 4 snapshots each.. than it got easier.
Sound resolution of the effects are great.
Still getting used to different AMP options but I love it.
So, Go big or Go Home ! :)
Can't be better
Unique features. Natural Sound. Can be used in very creative ways.
Great piece of gear.
I'm not going in to the analog vs digital debate here, but I sold almost all my amps and pedals after having this thing!
Really easy to program and well built.
But, yah, you'll still have to learn it and spend time programing it...
Outstanding product!
Long time Line6 user here, the Helix feels like a natural progression as tech improves, and it's up against stiff competition with the other products available, They're all great but Helix wins on ease of use. Regular updates keeps it jam packed with amps, cabs, effects and features. I love this unit!
A galaxy for creation!
First of all, if you buy this, then you buying a platform that Line 6 is building on. It is constantly improving. The last update (3.0) is a killer.
Second, its just such an awesome thing to have.
i ended up buying it because i just cant afford all the stomps i want separately. And guess what, these stomps eventually made it into Helix... :)
Enjoy and be creative!
Sold my tube amp
As a returning guitar player after a few decades, I wanted to emulate a range of sounds from clean pop, dirty blues and saturated 80's thrash metal. I think this does a great job, and considering I will never have the space or budget for a range of tube amps and a massive pedal board I am delighted with it. The only negative is the software updating from line6 is awkward and required a manual work around because of an expired website certificate.
I have now sold my tube amp and pedals!
i love the thing
I have been using Helix Floor for a while. Now Im able to give some feedback. I love the how the only limit of sounds is your imagination. i have to admit that it will take some time to get good tones out of it but its because of its steep learning curve. im using my Helix with alot of external equipment and never had an issue, so Helix is also very flexible. The flexibility truely comes out with its signal routing system where every thing is possible. its amp modeling is good and i mean good enough to pick helix over Kemper but in order to achieve that you have to use your ears and pay attention to the sag, hum, bias and bias X in amp blocks. maybe watch a Youtube video about it or use your ears. i would like to point out that it works very well as an audio interface. i was able to achieve 3 ms delay with an low end laptop computer, so it works very good. I have not had a single issue with Helix that cannot be solved and that is the reason i love it
Great sounds and easy to use
Been having the Helix for a year now and I am super pleased. It takes some time to learn how to dial the tones you want in the beginning, but luckily there are plenty of people ready to help at YouTube and other platforms. I use the Helix directly into a PA, but also with the 4 cable method through tube amps. Works like a charm.
Far beyond my dreams.
The Helix contains a variety of possibilities. I'm sure that every guitar player find his own sound and effects. Yet it is a quest to have everything adjusted correctly. My band members tell my that I never sound better than now with my Helix!!
Easy to use and Great processed sound.
After reading various reviews decided to purchase Line 6 Helix in lieu of a Kemper profiler. I think I made the correct decision. Very easy to start using and some rather good amp , cab and effects combinations. I managed to get good acoustic guitar settings also. So very useful for bass , electric guitars (single coil and humbucker) and also acoustic. Only downside is a lot of distorted amp models but just turn down the gain.
Two tips that is very important however !! When you get the new Helix it will likely not have the latest software version loaded. (likely to be version 3.0) Simply download the Line 6 Updater program and then link Helix with PC with supplied USB cable. KEY points are :-
1. Read the Update instructions carefully and don't try any shortcuts.
2. Make sure you link to PC using a NON-HUB USB port. Otherwise Helix not recognised. (non-hub ports are usually at the rear of a PC)
