Lovely instrumnet
This is my second cello as I needed to move up from A Stentor Student II to something a bit better. This is a lot better - much deeper, warmer sound in the bass with a nice clarity in the treble. The C and G are quite metallic initially but they even out after a couple of weeks. I think I might just stick with a full set of Larsens when it comes to time to change them though.
Lothar Semmlinger No. 132 Cello 4/4
I am a conservatory student in the 8th year of a cello course: I bought this cello to finish my studies with a superior quality instrument. I can make a comparison with the Gewa cello IDEALE (for beginners) with which I have played until now. The Semmlinger cello No.132 has a wonderful warm sound especially in the lower register. It keeps the tuning of the strings stable over time. I only noticed that, the height of the strings on the fingerboard is a little higher than Gewa, as the bridge is 2mm higher (see also customer review of cello No.132A).
I am fully satisfied with this purchase that I find a good compromise between high quality at an affordable price.
P.S. I recommend not to disassemble the bridge as the soundpost may move: ask your luthier to do it in case is necessary.
Wow, this is my new love!
I love this cello from the very first moment I unpacked it!
I was a little nervous, knowing only the pictures and sound samples.
Immediately after the carefully packed (on a pallet) package, I found a beautiful cello. Someone has previously mentioned that Lothar makes a cello in full of passion. I can confirm that. This instrument is so beautiful, with full, warm tone even in entry level.
Although I am a beginner, but I had the opportunity to record more professional cellists, so I exactly know what sound I prefer.
I am sure that if I am not gonna be lazy this instrument will give me a lot of joy.
A small pearl in conclusion, this cello has already play solo in my last film, for which I compose music.
If only I would buy another one in the future I know it will be again Lothar Semmlinger.
