Extremely good converter for a fair price
This is a mastering grade converter. Very neutral and unbiased sound. Essential in my setup. Very highly recommended. Many useful input and output options. Only taking one star away because there is no single unit rack available. Otherwise flawless.
A spectacular, mastering grade converter
Not one to buy without research, I expected the Hilo to be great. Even with those expectations, I've been blown away by this bit of gear! It's a fantastic upgrade from my previous converters, with an incredibly transparent sound and next to no noise floor.
Additionally, I'm incredibly impressed with the touchscreen for interacting with the device. It makes the setup of any routing options a breeze, as well as any configuration of the metering. Furthermore, I had not expected the metering options available to be as great as they are. The real-time analyser that was introduced with the latest firmware upgrade has a display (though a little small) worthy of a unit much more expensive than the hilo, and the responsiveness it exhibits blew my mind!
I have no qualms about recommending the Hilo to anyone looking for a mastering grade converter. It's up there amongst the best.
