High-end bass at a reasonable price!

The MM M7 5 string is an excellent choice for a bassist looking to get a more professional quality instrument without breaking the bank. The sound is excellent. The humbucker pickups provide a clear sound without any buzz. The 35" scale really helps provide the necessary tension for the low B string that most 34" scale basses can't provide. Setup was almost perfect out of the box. I had to make a very slight adjustment for the intonation, but that took less than 5 minutes. Weight isn't an issue. I would say it's not the lightest bass I've played, but it's also not the heaviest. It's comfortable to me. It also seems to be balanced well as I haven't had any neck dive. The EQ and pickup settings provide for lots of different sound options. I would say this bass is suitable for any type of music. The neck plays well and is pretty fast. The transparent blue finish is gorgeous! I haven't found any flaws in the appearance. The only thing I have see is some of the plastic knobs are a bit crooked, and I don't know if it's because of the knobs themselves or the shaft on the control pot. However, they are very well secured and provide no difficulty of use when using them to adjust the pickups or the EQ. There's certainly not enough for me to reduce a star.

Overall, this is a VERY good bass that I would highly recommend.

After 1 year... awesome

Already passed 1 year since I bought it.

for those planning to buy it , IMO is an awesome bass! i have try many basses but liked the M7 the most.

You can choose to play in single coil, parallel or series. Moreover you choose what mid frequency you like the most.

its a 35" scale bass so remember to buy the appropriate strings for it. One time I have buy string for 34" basses and they do not fit in the M7. :)

the sire M7 is affected a bit by temperature changes. you will need to check the set up maybe 3/4 times a year ( depend where you live ) .

for the tuners...it stays on tune.

there is the option to play with string through body or on top... before having this bass I did't know that it makes a difference.

they affect the feel and the sound. if you top load your string its a bit warner and if you put your string through body is a bit more punchier.

( after trying I put only the B string through body and EADG top loaded )

I have try drop tuning ( ADGCF ) and it stay in tune and notes are still clear.

my personal opinion would be better if there was not Marcus Miller name on it :D but I have put a sticker to cover it lol

for quality to me is a 4 star maybe a 3.8 to be more accurate. especially the back covers where you change batteries and where there are the circuits.

and for those who don't know.... by opening the rear panel there is a small knob where you can select the how much output you like in active mode. ( I have set active and passive mode to same output ).

With proper set up every string is well balanced....i can even slap that B string !!! for string spacing with a little bit time you will adapt. ( from factory is set at 18mm and i think you can make it more or less but I never try). for fingerboard material ebony and alder works fine ( not too much bright not too much warm) . the ebony fingerboard play the greatest role... its between the snappy sound of a maple and a warmer sound of a rosewood. And the sire M7 comes already with bone nut...the best sounding material for nuts!

to conclude ... if you want a better bass start saving money and look for a fodera ( it will have all features that M& have and better quality ) or a MTD ( it will not have all features that M7 have but will have others features and better quality )

Great Workhorse Bass - Amazing Value

I love this bass. So much bang-for-buck. Very nice ebony fretboard and polished frets with smooth rounded ends - super comfortable to play. If you take the time to dial in your tone you can get just about any sound out of this. Two humbuckers with individual toggles can be run in series, parallel, or in single-coil mode. Combined with the active/passive switch gives a massive amount of tonal versatility. Can string through body or bridge. Bridge is heavy and high quality. Body and finish are gorgeous. 100% satisfied.
