Markbass Little Mark 250 Black Line Reviews
Good starterpack
I really don't have a lot to say about this little beast. Does what one would expect it to do and does it well. Good enough for most situations (where you don't need to fill the whole area with bass).
Very nice sounding little beast
Works perfectly. Great for smaller gigs... DI Out is very useful and works nicely if you need extra power...
Fantastic amp !
My favourite amp, excellent sound, Highly recommended ! Sound is clear, warm and fat ! Love it !
a general good sound for all ears
Ive been using it for almost a year now.
I am not a bass player but im a drummer and i bought it as an upgrade for my studio and rehearsal place..
I paired it with a 12" 300w Eden cabin and i really like that clear sound.
You can really add color with the VLE and VPF knobs. You can actually go towards a more old vintage sound and then with a tweak go back to a modern clean sound.
Many bass players used it and everyone was happy with it.
From jazz players to rock/metal players.
I personally like how it really project a double bass.
Im mostly into jazz so its mostly been used with double bass and because the amplifier is clean you can listen to a more true and detailed double bass sound.
For its price i am really happy about it.
Better than I have expected
I have bought this head because I wanted to test the Markbass sound. I have other heads, like Aguilar, GK and TC Electronic so I have a range of heads to compare. I use this head for home practice and small gigs.
To be honest this heads sounds better than I have expected when I bought it. The Markbass sound is that sound I was looking for. It is a little bit coloured and with character.
Pros:
- specific Markbass sound
- a lot of controls to get the tone you want
- VLE and VPF controls are really good and useful
- sturdy an reliable
Cons:
- missing a Mute button and that is really important for me
- quite big for a 250 W head
- the speakon cable does not plug very easy
Overall I do recommend this head and most probably I will try other products from them.
A little beast
I have been using this amp for home practicing for several months. It is well built and delivers a great sound (coupled with a ported bass cabinet equipped with one Eminence Delta-15LFC). The amp is very easy to use, has a 4-band EQ (pretty handy for 4-string basses, you basically get one EQ knob for each string) and 2 additional tone knobs (one for cutting high frequencies and another one for cutting middle frequencies) for all kinds of tone tinkering.
Two little downsides are: 1) the knobs are made of plastic and 2) it's hard to tell the current knob level by the mark on its front (the mark is located too far away from the scale). The second issue is easily solved by manually adding a second mark closer to the scale, though.
Best in this price range
It has the classic Markbass tone
It's a great little head, I've used it on many gigs without any problem. It's very light and loud enough for me ( I play mostly jazz and pop music in small clubs). The sound when used with my double bass can get a bit muddy and sometimes lacks definition, but the head sounds really nice with a bass guitar. It's a very good piece of equipment considering the price. EDIT: after six years of usage, numerous gigs and rehersals in all weather conditions, the potentiometers became a bit noisy, which for me isn't usable in a live setting.
Great Little Amp
This is a great little amp, it is nice and light and portable. There is plenty of sound control via a four part EQ plus two other none standard controls. Google for details of these.
It is loud enough for my purposes which will mainly be recording but also the odd small gig. There is a balanced in and a balanced output plus and effect loop so it's pretty versatile.
The one thing I was worried about was the fan, I would prefer no fan at all but it turns out to be pretty quiet.
''Little'' is just a name to describe it's size - compact, small enough to carry from gig to gig in a backpack. Love the EQ options, quality of the sound. Volume is just quite enough to annoy your neighbours (if you are using it at your home or garage).
Been gigging this for a year now, faultless.
I've been using this amp now as my main amp for ages... over a year I think. I also have the official markbass case for it, and have chucked it around in and out of my car boot, other people's cars and vans etc, it's fallen off seats and has survived well. This is only a soft case that flips open so you can keep the case on permanently.
Build quality therefore seems good, nothing loose or coming apart.
The tonal options are huge, especially with the low-pass filter, you can get really mellow tones for the jazz gigs, and with the tweeter you can get a really bright slap tone, the two extremes I end up gigging the most.
Paired with a 2x10 Markbass traveller the amp sounds great. Couple it with a 1x15 and you've got a monster rig at the full wattage, that has never failed to compete with even the loudest drummers on stage.
DI is great too, no complaints from sound techs, ground lift has helped me more than once, and there's pre/post EQ settings, great for recording!
Great portable amp at an affordable price
About 5 years ago I owned a little mark 2 Italian made head which i loved but I sold it. Recently I wanted to get back into bass without breaking the bank so took a gamble on the Indonesian made blackline series. I can't vouch for long lasting durability but so far so good. Build and sound quality appears to be just as good, no noticable differences to my eyes and ears. Overall a great lightweight amp which really kicks for it's size. Hard to beat in this price range. Only things I would have liked to have seen added would be an mp3 input and headphone jack. Other than that it's packed with great features.
Great Amp
Looks & feels solid, it is light but has enough weight to 'feel' like a bass amp. It's easy to dial in if you take some time to do it. First of all for the "classic" EQ, which offers a wide sound palette with an inclination toward low mids. Personally, I'm using it with a Traveller 102p cab, the sound is powerful & clean & with one cab you get 150w & with two cabs you get the full 250w..that will be plenty for most gigs!
The filters provide new possibilities. The VLE cuts off high frequencies and provides some roundness, which results in a smoother sound. The VPF boosts the low and high frequencies, which results in a more percussive sound, for playing slap, for example.
In all cases, the sound range is consistent and allows you to easily find the sonic character you want.
Great bass amp head for the price
A very lightweight and compact amp head but packs a big punch.
Loaded with features perfect for studio use and gigging, effects loop send and return, a seperate channel for a tuner.
This amp sounds great through a 4 x 10 cabinet or even a single 10 inch cabinet.
Easily fits in a gig bag or the side pocket of a softcase.
I particularly like the EQ and VLE which has some very nice tone and can provide some rich sounds.
Awesome Amp, Awesome Price!
If you are looking for a small, lightweight amps with a lot of puch and an incredible output I can highly recommand you this amp.
It deals well with passive and active pickups and has no problems with 5 strings.
5 Star product for sure.
This Little Mark 250 Black Line packs a serious punch, the name is deceiving. It absolutely pumps through my Hartke 410TP. It's a great Amp to buy for the musician that is starting to gig, light as a feather, small and versatile. This MarkBass Head is fantastic value for money. The VLE and VLF feature that are available on this 250 Black Line are the secret weapons by MarkBass and make this product all the better. in conclusion - BUY THIS AMP.
little mak 250
With the mark bass New York 121, a great combo. Sensitive tone controls, loads of power, good clarity, small and light to carry. Great with the double and the electric, every body in the band is digging the sound too.
