Monster amp ❤️

I’ve been a dsl user in the past and the new rendition of the series did not disappoint..!! Two switchable volumes makes things much easier for gigging and this amp loves being played loud..!! Great for home use too with the 20 watt setting Love this amp.. I’ve always been a Marshall guy and the DSL40CR helps me understand why 👍

Geweldige Amp

The real marshall sound. Echt deze versterker heeft het. Een warme vette sound zowel clean als met overdrive. Echt een topper

The real king of rock!

This Marshall DSL40 is absolutely amazing. I have a Mesa Boogie Mark V 35, witch is excellent, but this Marshall is far better for true classic rock, from clean to heavier sounds! With the opcional Pedal 91016 footswitch, you have a four channel amp on your foot and it is very easy to dial in the settings for all channels, even if some people may say the opposite... Whatever you do, all four modes work equally great for both rhythm and single note lead work. For the price, you get a huge amplifier.

The only cons are two, just minor issues that wouldn ´t ever affect my choice for this amp: The included footswitch (Pedl 90012) should be substituted from the factory by the opcional Pedl 91016, so you wouldn´t keep a footswitch you won´t use (if you buy the opcional one) and maybe the quality of some materials are not as sturdy as i expected, like nobs...

Overall, stunning real Marshall sound!

Fantastic sound, flexibility and value for the money.

After trying to decide whether to go for a valve amp or something like a Katana.

I'm so glad that I picked the Marshall DSL40CR. I just love the way valve amps clean up when you roll back the volume. This is a very versatile amp, the clean channel is great and the crunch and drive the amp produces are good too. The amp has a 40 or 20-watt mode and I also use it with the Harley Benton PA-100 Power Attenuator so I can use it for practising at home.

In conclusion, I feel I have made an excellent choice. I can highly recommend this, it's plenty loud enough for gigging. If you have only used a modelling amp before you should really give a proper tube amp a try.

My DSL40 expirience

I have used this Marshall amplifier on probably 2-3 month and also taking it out and played live maybe 5 times. There’s not been one gig where I’ve ever been concerned about its reliability. The stock valves have worked extremely well and it is great to see Marshall putting in quality tubes/vales to start with. This saves having to upgrade them because they put in junk right from the get-go.

I can foresee myself having this amplifier for quite some time. I’ve purchased and sold so many guitar amplifiers over the years and not have given me such a great sound without any pedals as this particular amplifier has. This has become my main loud gig amp and something I will take to play festivals with when setup time is important. The fewer effects you have on the floor the easier it is to set up. In loud rooms, this is my go-to amplifier. I haven’t been as satisfied with any other amp purchase this much with the exception of my Fender Blues Deluxe. The great thing is, I now have both and they are apples and oranges in terms of what they give me. If you haven’t tried a Marshall DSL40CR give it a shot but remember – TURN IT UP! I hope this review of the Marshall DSL40CR guitar amplifier has been helpful. Feel free to share it if it has been, thank you.

Great amp for all genres and levels

The build quality is great. The 2 powers options are very useful, when playing at home, I have the power on 20 the whole time. I can play at home without disturbing the neighbors and I can be as loud as necessary when gigging. The amp is actually a four-channel amp since each channel has two voicings. You can play any style, from jazz and blues to heavy metal on this amp. I recommend it to all players. If there's a negative point it would be the weight of the amp, but that's normal for tube combo amps.

Best tube combo amp

Absolutely stunning tube combo amp! Best choice for this price. Sound amazingly with my Gibson Les Paul Traditional! I am so glad with that purchase! Highly recommend!

This is the amp I've been waiting for

I've played guitar on and off for a few decades now, and have owned a variety of amps, most closely related of which is the JCM 800 2210 head. I can say, bar none, this DSL40CR replaces all of those previous amps. It does clean, it does dirty, and it sounds classic 80s Marshall doing it all. I love it. My only regret is carrying around that stack setup for so many year rather than this lovely reasonably sized (but not light!) combo.

A blast from the past

As a rocker teenager in the 1980's I had a Marshal 2 x 10 valve combo which was lost or stolen while moving house. This amp sounds just like that and has even more sound crafting!!! Am totally delighted with this amp! Check put Joe Bonamassa's review of it on youtube

Fantastic.

It is a good and very versatile amp. Sounds great and very easy to use. Can be used at home or apartment especially when you add JHS Little Black Amp Box in the loop, for example. Great for practice and live. However there seems to be a click/popping when switching between Master volumes.

MARSHALL AT ITS BEST!!! ALL THE DIRTY SOUND YOU WANT!

Excellent AMP!!!!

Pros: Excellent sound. Especially if you like the 80s Metal, you got it 100%. Looks amazing.

Cons: I tried very hard in order to find one... well, its a little bit heavy if you want to move around (home, gigs, rehearsals etc).

Also, in order to have instant access to all modes (lean and Crunch Modes in the Classic Gain Channel & Lead 1 and Lead 2 modes in the Ultra Gain channel) I combine the amp with the Marshall PEDL-91016 Footswitch.

Highly recomended!!!!

A great Marshall sound

I got this amp to pair with a Les Paul VOS and it's a real marriage made in heaven. The four channels available here range from clean to crunch, gain and then ultra gain. These four flavours work well and can be set with two different master volumes.

This amp sounds amazing and the clean tones are really smooth and authentic; it's not all about the gain.

The only slight lack in this amp is if we have four channels of sounds then having four master volumes would be ideal so one could set each flavour of sound to its very own volume, and then switch between them at will. For that you will need the extra 6-button footswitch instead of the supplied 2-button one. I would recommend this addition if you want to get the best out of this amp.

In short: love it! I finally have a Marshall, and a quality one at that.

Very good product for the price. Very versatile.

Good clean sound for a marshall typa of amp and also very good overdrives.

The clean channel (green mode) as a bit lower volume then the others but you can compensate that with the 2 master volumes, so thats not a deal-breaker.

Also, if you use buffered by-pass pedals on the FX loop, when you turn it on you will notice a slith decrease on the volume aswell. For me, I keep the FX Loop always on and just turn on/off the pedals I want to use so that is not a problem.

If you like to use dirt pedals, this amps is also a great for that cuz it accepts pedals very well.

The key trick for this amp is very simple: the louder it gets, the better it sounds. However, is very easy to dial good tones in any volume, since bed-room practice levels to any live gig.

I have this amp for about 6 months now and I have nothing negative to point out. still in love with it. highly recomended.

Revolution in combo tube amps

The preamp tubes/valves in this amp are 12AX7 and the power tubes are a set of EL34’s. One of the fantastic things about EL34’s is they have a huge full sound very reminiscent of 6L6’s. We have two master volumes as well as independent channel volumes. This means you can run the overall output however you like.

The reverb on the Marshall DSL 40 CR amplifier is digital but it sounds great.

There’s also a two-button Footswitch included. Once you pick the two channels on the amplifier you want to use the left side button switches between those two. The right button in gauges or disengages the FX loop.

This is the amp you want

This amp is just great. I really love it. The sound is so deep en the features are great. With the footswitch you can easily switch between channels on different volumes. Yes it's heavy, but that's what you get from the massive 12" speaker. It's worth it. (i've placed it on a board with wheels for in my living room)

Really good for the price.

Use:

I use it at home and occasionally at band practice.

Pros:

Some good features, amazing sound, good distortion and amazing cleans.

Cons:

Pretty heavy, reverb isn't easily heard unless maxed out, tone shift doesn't do anything immediately noticeable.
