Smooth & spetacular!

I'm in love with this thing, i think it fits any style of music, if you use it only as a crash or as a main ride or both!

It feels really well designed, the sound is controlled, dry but with a touch of brightness to it. The rivets does a perfect job sustaining the sound and giving that "sand" effect. I bought it for world, jazz, rock, experimental music and it feels perfect for these applications.

It's a bit expensive but i'm not disappointed.

The crash is awesome.

Great dark sounding cymbal

If you are looking for a clear, crisp sounding cymbal, look elsewhere! This Meinl crash/ride cymbal provides a dark and rounded sound. The three rivets accentuate the roundness of the sound, while the bell provides a nice accented higher tone. All in all a great cymbal, extremely well finished and a perfect complement to the Byzance line. Recommend for those drummers looking for a groovy, fat ride with low undertones.

valhalla

Very inspiring and great cymbal, if you're into jazzy feels and mellow-sounding tones with the high end being very subtle and light (you won't do metal with this), then this is the thing.

The only cymbal you'll ever need?

Finest and most versatile cymbal I've ever owned. Sometimes crash/rides can be the worst of both worlds; definitely not in this case. Good rich ride sound which allows stick definition, and a full dry crash sound. Not the cheapest of course, but if you consider this could genuinely fill the role of a couple of cymbals, perhaps at a stretch that actually represents a saving. Good looking too.

Great as jazz ride or a mighty crash

If you already own one of the Byzance Vintage Sand Series cymbals this is a perfect addition. Either as a jazz ride with beautiful sizzling sound or as a mighty crash - you can't go wrong with this one. In my personal rating, it is my second favorite from the entire series right after Sand Hats. It simply perfectly enhances the small set of Sand Hats and Sand Ride. Favorite part? The sizzles in a gentle jazz/swing application.
