Well made, not perfect

While this ching ring is very well made, robust and largely undamaged by sticking, it does have its irks. it seems to work a lot better on the down beat, whereas there is a noticable volume drop on the down beat. Not awful, but not quite as good as you'd expect. personally prefer the type that mounts on the rod. This being said, it does the job to an acceptable standard and can be used in quieter settings. Again, the rod-mounting hi hat chings work slightly better for more Bonham style use of hi hat tambourines.

Good addition to tone

Use:

Got this for our bands drummer. Tried on different cymbals - gives a specific additional tone/ring.

Conclusion:

Can not give pros/cons - well built, the sound is a matter of taste for each person.

Useful peace of gear

I like to use those on my hi hat or crash cymbal, where I need continuous ringing sound. Works very well in acoustic setups. The quality and sound is superb for the price, can only recommend this little useful thing.

It is a great quality product, but i would like to have some alternatives to this as well, from other materials/shapes.

Best cheap thing ever?

I've had the ching ring for two days now and have basically tried it on every drum surface I have - it works equally good on top of a hi-hat, ride, crash, toms and snare.

It's distinctive enough to cut through the mix and give you that little bit of extra shine even in loud metal setting and is not overpowering when played softly.

At this price point I fail to see any cons. Should have ordered more than one.

Very good sounding ching ring, the product has a really nice sound and it perfectly cuts through the mix! It's stable and strong and definetly affordable!

Good Thing To Have

I find it useful not even for blues or jazz music, I use it even when I play metal. It makes the sound richer. Great thing to use when you play with cymbals stack (I put it between 18" china and 14" hi-hat top). Everyone who tried mine ching ring, thinking about buying it.

useful

does exactly what you'd expect to give that nice tambourine sound. Sounds great on cymbals too if you have a small enough bell! My favourite is having it on the snare because of its size you still get the natural ring of the snare! price is great what more do you want!

Excellent thing

A very nice sizzly effect - really depends where you put it - it is sweet on crashes and rides, could be a good stacker on a china or something like that. I prefer to use it on the hihat - it does a very nice thing, where it adds some dry attack to the closed hihat (unless you hit the ring itself) and the full tambourine-like chick comes off only on the pedal chick. Very nice.

Essential for any kit bag

I've had so much fun with this. It is so flexible and can be used on crash's, rides, toms, hats, snares to give different textures to your sounds. I may get a second one!

Love this!

This is an excellent addition to give your hi hat a different sound. Lots of songs in I play call for a bit of tamborine but i hate having to set it up. With a bit of thought this works as a substitute. Also for splashy hats it give the hats an extra layer also.

For the money you can't go wrong with these.

No negatives for me. One of my best purchases.

FX

Great little jingle ring for effects, love putting it on a hihat, also great if it is put on a ride cymbal or crash cymbal. Sounds great!

Sometimes i put it on my snare drum and it gives a totaly different sound, which is fun to play with!

Dont buy one, buy 2!

So Awesome

Really flexible tool for the drumset. Meinl could be triple the price and it would be worth it.

It brings a unique sound to any part of the kit: Snare, Hi Hat, floor tom, ride. Very distinct yet modern sound. On the ride it gives it a really aggressive sizzle.

I love this thing.

Cheap, well-made, easy to use. Why not?

Predominantly used on the hi-hat. Could also use on any ride, crash cymbal, or stacker.

On the hi hat, adds a very nice tambourine sound when operated by the foot. When closed and played with a stick, adds a nice, quiet, percussive tone.

No cons, if you don't want it on a particular track, take it off.

A nice addition, giving you more sound options for very little cost.
