Miditech Midi Thru 4 /Filter Reviews
Doesn't handle multiple MIDI streams simultaneously
You can't modulate different cc parameters on different synths on different midi channels at the same time with Miditech Midi Thru 4 /Filter.
works very well with Arturia Keystep Pro
This device is powered by the MIDI-IN cable, so the main advantage is that you don't another power cable and adapter. Apparently not every device has enough current to power it up. Fortunately it works like a charm in combination with my Arturia Keystep Pro. It does exactly what it needs to do.
Perfect for sequencing clock across a complex MIDI setup.
I use this to synchronize my modular rig with 2 other musicians using a Drumbrute, a Minilogue and a Maschine MKii. We clock off the Maschine, and rather than daisy chaining we use this as a single 'thru' to keep latency to a minimum and it works a treat. The fact that it powers itself is all the better!
As for the filters, assume they work, but haven't tried them.

Just not to complicate too much; it does what was made to do. 5/5
Does what's needed
use it every day, never let me down
A pretty helpful tool
This tiny box does exactly what you expect.
It has a small footprint and it works. It's a plastic build so the quality is not as sturdy as metal, but if you don't drop it it will last for a pretty long time.
Handy little tool
Useful and affordable midi thru box. It has filtering options for if you don’t want certain things like program changes sent.
I use this box to split the midi output of my Octatrack sampler to an FM synth, a korg volca unit, two small monosynth modules and a delay pedal that has a midi input, all of which sit on another table from the sampler. Used for clocking, and some sequencing.
It’s made out of (very hard) plastic, although the inclusion of rubber feet at the bottom is great! The grip allows it to double as a prop to give a faderfox PC4 modules a slightly steeper viewing angle, in my case.
After a couple years of use, no issues, I don’t notice any latency, still works like a charm. At this price I do not have anything negative to remark.
Unreliable / Defective unit?
It will only turn on when one of the four inputs is plugged in. So when starting up I first have to unplug all but 1 output cable. Using pitch bend / mod wheel also turns off the device. Will return it because it is not reliable. Better option is to use something with external power.
Super useful device, if you use less then 4 midi outs.
After some time of use, I have to tell that often one of my 4 midi devices connected to this box loose communication. My midi/clock sender is an Elektron Digitone and the device and the port loosing connection is completely random. Useful device if you use less then 4 midi devices.
The building quality is not the best (plastic) but it's compact and lightweight.
Great for daisy chaining
I daisy chained this with a Kenton-5 and it works great. No latency, and no issues at all.
I bought this because it's the cheapest you can find, so I haven't utilized the filter function yet. I just use it as a thru box.
As for the build, it does feel a tiny bit cheaper than let's say a Midi Solutions alternative.
Very useful little box :-)
A must have in studio. Offers virtually everything practically needed with MIDI manipulation.
Very handy to distribute MIDI from your soundcard
I bought this to split up my midi out to connect various machines in my studio.
As many machines don't come with a MIDI through option it's impossible to daisy chain them, so I needed a splitter to connect them to my one midi out on my soundcard.
This device can do other things like filtering certain MIDI data, but I haven't used those yet. (I'm relatively new to larger MIDI setups)
As a split-box it is easy to use, basically plug and play. Connect the input to your MIDI out and then connect your machines to the 4 outputs.
There's no need for a PSU as the box is powered via the MIDI out. (Apparently there are devices where this won't work, so you may want to check this first, but my guess is most will. Again - check!)
The box does feel a bit plastic-y, so while it's good for studio use and the occasional live performance, I'm not sure how well it would deal with heavy gigging/touring.
I also find the placement of the LED that shows incoming data next to the input - which many will want to have on the back like me, a bit unfortunate, as it's not very well visible.
Other than that no complaints. At the price this is a very useful, decent little box.
bullshit
my system work beter without thrubox a 10 chain without is ok . 4chain 2/3 synth per chain and is not ok signal dont pass or 1 yes 1 no
Never experienced any issue with it. It just works.
It is MIDI-powered, which can be a blessing (no clunky power adapter) or a curse (not all sources deliver a powerful enough MIDI signal). Having a choice of power sources would have been nice.
Does what it's supposed to!
In some cases the LED is blinking when computer is in sleep/off state. Very bright light so you may want to cover it or not keep it in your bedroom.
Still doing its job
Have this thing at the back of my looper pedalboard to get 3 loopers midi synced.
Own it for more then 4 years, always works. Plug and play. Not super sturdy but good enough. The filter options can be very handy. It does what it needs to do for a good price.
Midi swiss knive
This little box can filter any midi signal. Very handy. I already use three of them, to filter out midi real time data, or to filter out the lock signal. This is the swiss knive of midi. Good quality and it is powered by the midi signals themselves, very convenient.
Does what it should
Its light and small enough, the signal distribution works.
That's all to be said about such a small thing :)
works!
Simple to use, perfect solution
I wanted to use a Studiologic midi bass pedal to control a Roland synth. Unfortunately the Studiologic doesn't let you disable velocity data. Playing keyboards with your feet in the dark is hard enough without having to worry about dynamics! The Miditech Midi Thru/Filter gave me an easy way to strip out the velocity data from the pedal.
Yeah
Such a small and effective tool. Helps me to send midi thru for my drum machines and synths. Works perfect.
