Belle idée mais...

Utilisation:

Cela ne semble pas compliqué: quelques boutons, on tourne une molette pour changer de son... sauf que... Tous les sons sont complètement mélangés et il n'y a pas de pavé numérique pour un accès rapide au son voulu.

Caractéristiques: c'est le seul module de son simple que j'ai trouvé qui est pilotable en direct par un clavier midi.

Son: le son est moyen. Il est même inutilisable quand le volume intégré est à fond (127). A chaque utilisation, il faut descendre manuellement le volume jusqu'à 60 pour que le son de crache pas.

Je suis très déçu même s'il reste exploitable pour avoir un son sans être obligé de brancher l'ordinateur, ce qui était mon objectif initial.

Average Sound Module

Samples are mediocre quality, line input has problems with peaking, the user interface is good and usable, but the firmware is glitchy (or I didn't understand how to use the module properly).

It will do for some specific use cases, but I'd look for something else if it's for powering a MIDI-controller for normal play.

Finally happy with it

When I bought it, I updated immediately to the available firmware 0.6 (from 0.5). Unfortunately, I could not play full chords without horrible latency. Also the drum loops sounded horrible due to this latency in timing. Anyway, I contacted Miditech, who immediately recognised the problem (so it wasn't just my unit). Two weeks later I received the updated firmware which has fixed this problem (0.7), and it sounds fine now.

The sounds, especially the EMU sounds, are wonderful and it sounds great, there is a slight hiss audible on louder volume, but I'm not bothered with that.

Operating it is simple. I also like the fact that is has a build-in reverb, which can be quite long. More than adequate.

All in all, considering the price, how it sounds, and the manufacturer support, I'm very pleased with it

Worth buying for the EMU sounds alone.

The Miditech Pianobox Pro is worth buying for the 64 EMU sounds alone. It's like the 80's & the 90's sounds in one box & the piano sounds are so much better than the GM ones.

None of the sounds are editable but at this price, you can't have everything, but they are all usable.

The GM sounds are what they are. You can select 64 of them from the module itself but you can access all 128 from your midi keyboard using the program change controls.

One pleasant surprise I found was, if you have aftertouch on your keyboard, by pressing down on the key, you can get a nice vibrato on a lot of the synth sounds.

It does have a built in drum machine but it's nothing special. I suppose it's ok to practice with.

The big rotary control knob makes it so much easier to use than previous pianobox models.

This module is built like a tank with it's metal case, metal buttons & sturdy connectors. It's certainly a gigworthy unit.

For this money, it's a no brainer. Buy one now.
