Needs a very strong line-level signal to be loud enough

You have to feed the HPA a very, very strong line-level signal. Only then will full volume be almost too loud for your ears in your buds, and you can therefore turn it down a little and have some control over the loudness level.

But if you feed it an average line-level signal, you'll have to keep the volume knob at full, and still barely hear you're playing above the stage noise.

Does 9V power mean you can put this on your guitar pedalboard? Not necessarily - it's bloody huge. If this is your intention, measure it very carefully, and allow for plenty of access in-front (knobs) and behind (cables).

Build quality is good. Sound quality is good, and no hiss or hum using my pedalboard power.

Apart from the amplification issue, this is a nice wired-IEM unit.

Okay thingy

It does what it's supposed to do, but the sound goes crackling when the input volume is too high. Which is unfortunate because I use it as an in ear alternative on stage, where there is a lot of sound. So in order to hear myself I need to turn up the volume to the cracling level

Well built and solid

I purchased this to be build into a custom Rack unit, so the first thing was obviously to take it apart. It's surprisingly well build for the price with good workmanship. Can't think of flaws yet 'cause it is not used as originally intended :-)

Well built but not very loud

Very solid unit with simple but sufficient features, my only issue is that I can't get a lot of volume out of it (into Sennheiser in-ear monitor earphones). Whilst this may be due to a low input level the behaviour of the active loudspeakers other band members use for foldback suggests that there is plenty of signal.

A mosquito in my ear

A well featured headphone amp at a great price... BUT...

there is a constant and really annoying mosquito buzz. I send the first one back, but the second was just the same; I should have returned it again for a refund of course, but life gets in the way!

An essential for in ear monitoring

This box is a godsend! I have used it on every gig I've done since owning it. It is also a very affordable option in this product category. The knobs on the front are of pretty good quality, the only slight annoyance is the fact that the balance knobs centre detent is slightly off where the notch catches. This is hardly something that would ever turn me off buying this product. The sound quality is great and it boosts my signal from mixing desk to in ears perfectly, the volume knob works perfectly also!

Nice, simple, basic features

Bought this to use with Shure SE-215CL when playing bass.

Nice sturdy and useful box.. Very well built with some nice features, and good sound. Output signal could be a little bit better, but for the price price it's okay. I would give it 4/5 rating stars if only it could have 6.35mm jack socket.

But for the price it is really good choice.

Affordable battery powered headphone amp

Does what it says on the tin. Sounds fine. Very useful that it can be battery powered. The battery lasts plenty of time and the low batt light gives plenty of warning.

Able to drive headphones more than loud enough for my needs.

The headphone socket can be slightly recessed which causes problems for some plugs. I bought five, had to dismantle them all to get the headphone socket flush with the front panel.

Great value but let down a bit by build quality.

Entry level

This unit is great for the money. We use it week in week out for our bass player. He uses some Shure 215 drivers.

Only issue is that it's a bit big and you cannot attach it to your belt. That said, it sits on top of the bass cab and is close enough for the bass player to plug in to.

Basically it's fine and it's great value for money.

I was looking exactly for such product. I haven't seen anything comparable to this Millenium HPA. It is easy to use, it has great features as the stereo monitoring and it cost is pretty low.

Good entry to IEM

I bought this product to test the waters with regards to switching to IEM.

It's reasonably specced, with two line/mic inputs that can be switched between mono and stereo mix modes. What it does lack, is a brickwall limiter which is found on more expensive models, so you do slightly run the ricks of an unexpected volume spike.

Soundwise, for the money it is great, and the individual volume controls mean that it is possible to have a decent amount of control over your mix.

Build quality seems pretty good too, the inputs are good and the whole unit is pretty solidly put together (mine is now mounted on my pedalboard)

Overall a great 'way in' to the world of iem without spending huge amount of cash, so you can decide whether or not it is for you.

great product

i bought this with the in ear head phones, its brilliant, made of metal nice easy dials onthe front and rear, its very light and will run of a battery also, that saves you using the adaptor

Not a bad option for those on a budget

This is an easy to use, no frills IEM amp. It works and it's fairly sturdy. Doesn't have the same build quality of sound clarity as the higher-end units but that's to be expected. If you're on a budget, this is a fairly reliable item to go for.

Millenium HPA In Ear

For the money it does the job very well. It is rock solid in terms of construction, the pots feel nice and it has all the feautures of a fully fledged unit.

We were suprised that even with using one mono xlr input the stereo function mirrors that channel to the other channel in the stereo spectrum.

Definately a great buy ;)

Great wired in ear monitor system.

We bought one of these for our drummer (the noisy one...) as he didn't need a wireless system and despite its low cost, it works pefectly.I it was wireless, i'd have given it 5 stars for features. basic, simple, reliable and does it's job!

Sturdy, simple, good basic features

I bought this to use with Shure SE215-CL in-ear monitors. It revolutionalised playing gigs completely. Being a cello player I need to be able to hear exactly what I'm doing and it prooved very difficult with normal monitors. This devices enables me to control what I hear - and thanks to the 2 inputs, even when there's only one general monitor mix available from the desk, I can take a line from my cello DI's 2nd output into the Millenium HPA's 2nd input and blend the two to however suits me. It takes a while to get used to being stationary, and I would find a wireless setup way more flexible, but this is a decent quality affordable start for in-ear monitoring. It's a sturdy build as well so expect it to last.

Handy unit

Good value but there's a very high-pitched whine/tone at all times if the volume's up high. It also gives a very loud pop/bang in the earphones when switched on so be careful!

Very useful

This is a really useful little box. I use mine as a small mixer for musical directors in a pit orchestra. I feed one channel with band and click track, and the other channel with the cast singing. The mix feature allows them to set the balance between these 2 mixes, which is really useful, particularly in quieter numbers where the cast need turning up. A real labour saving for me.

The unit is well built, though mine already has a few scratches on it. It's not been particularly misused so I wonder if the paint finish is maybe a little delicate. It really doesn't affect the functionality though.

The balance knob has a centre detent, although this detent is slightly misaligned with the legend on the panel. Again nothing big to worry about.

Would be even more useful if it had a 6.35mm jack socket as well as 3.5mm.

Great product. I'll be buying more.

Great IEM Amp

this is an awesome little box for the price. The volume and sound quality are both above what one should expect at this price. The availability of a 9V battery slot makes a brilliant backup in case of the PSU burning or falling out.
