Mesh heads and hihat stand

Pros: mesh heads, hi-hat stand, kick drum, price

Cons: Built in sounds are not the best. I mostly use it with vst. Kick drum is nice, but I had to lower the beater below center, closer to piezo. If not, I had to really bang the drum (excuse the pun). Included drum pedal is pure trash but expected.

Conclusion: You won't find a better package with a hi-hat stand at this price point. Would buy again.

A good kit for the price

I've been using this kit for about 5 months and I like it. I've not encountered any problems so far. THe hihat is a little bit flimsy but the other parts are sturdy enough

Works fine, probably the best for the price

The sound is ok. Easy to mount. The feeling is good.

Although, the hi-hats doesn't work very good. It's not the real feeling, specially when you play closed and then open, it doesn't work well.

I guess you pay for what you have.

GREAT IN PARTS

Good sound presets with many options to tailor the kit to your liking. Like many e drums can occasionally fail to trigger. Once you become conversant with the trigger sounds it is enjoyable to play and offers a lot for the money. Many have commented on the sound quality for the cost and that it looks part way to being a proper kit. Only time will tell with durability as mine is relatively new.

The only review you'll need

The Millenium MPS-850 is a beautiful compromise for people who really want a Roland TD17 but just don't have the money. Millenium might not be the biggest brand, this drum set surely speaks for itself. I've had it for a year now and will tell you about my experience.

- Kit -

The kit itself is simply gorgeous. I love how it does not look flashy but is still stylish. Furthermore, the responsiveness of the kit is good (not perfect, but what can you expect for this money). Mesh is a must and thankfully this kit is fully mesh. Lastly, I found the standing Hi-hat to be a must. I play regularly on acoustic kits and this helps for transition in between kits.

There are a few cons regarding the responsiveness:

- The cymbals are somewhat clumsy in their trigger curves. It takes experience and knowing the kit to maintain a smooth volume during a cymbal roll. I recommend downloading the manual and checking out the curves you can adjust for this matter.

- The hi-hat is not the best-built there is. First of all, my hi-hat control on/off switch broke off about five weeks in. Secondly, the hi-hat sometimes forgets you're playing closed which is somewhat annoying.

- The spring of my kick drum started squeaking a bit after two months of playing. This can be resolved by oiling it.

- Once in a while, hitting the hi-hat, drum and snare at the same time triggers the play-button for the play-along songs. I'll be in the middle of a drum solo and suddenly a backing track comes in. This is the most annoying feature but can be resolved by turning the volume to 0.

- Durability -

I play in a setting where I need to be able to set up my kit in as short a time as possible. I've taken the whole kit apart and put it together about 15 times now, and I can safely say that the kit does not show any sign of wear and tear. What's more, I can now manage to do this in less than 15 minutes which to me is remarkable. Some easy cable management allows you to be very quick. Tip: buy the gig bag with it.

- MIDI trigger -

I play with Addictive Drums 2 and Steven slate. Both works just fine with this drum and I have no trouble whatsoever.

- Drum sounds -

I find the drum sounds themselves to be quite bad, frankly. That's not to say I would find them better in a Roland TD 17 (I generally hate built-in kits I know I'm weird), but still. It helps that you can pitch and adjust all sounds to your liking but especially the more alternative genres sound incredibly unrealistic.

You can download samples onto your module but don't expect good results as the module can only hold about 15 samples. This means you can never sample your whole kit.

Nevertheless, the sound is good enough for practice and I'm enjoying the kit so far. Also: no wear & tear whatsoever.

- Conclusion -

Buy it.

Great for its price

Full drum setup with 2 floor toms 2 crashes is great for the price but the response and the quality of default sounds are not really the best. However, it is still playable and lot of fun for hobbyists :)

Nice rig for nearly no money

I'm a bass player, not a drummer. That goes first. Better believe true drummers rather than me.

Second: this is a nice rig for no money. Good feeling on the pads and the kick, nice bank sounds, easy setup (hihat is a little tricky). No way (iat least i've not find it) to stop crash pads.

Be careful with the pad sensor wiring, it can be easily damaged as it's not too well isolated (i actually have two pads with cut wiring and pending on support), but it's easy to reinforce protection, you just need to take out a few screws.

Equalization is a little bit confusing as taking mix bars to min does not imply completely mute the channels.

Excellent price performer

A great drumset, for the price I really can't complain. I've bought it to get back into drumming after a long pause, since I can't practice on acoustic drums. It's a joy to play, connecting it to PC to trigger sounds was a breeze and module sounds are good enough for practice. It's also really quiet, two closed doors between us was enough for the wife to watch tv without me bothering her.

I only have two gripes with this drumset, first is a rather weak headphone output, so if you have high impedance headphones you will probably need an extra headphone amp.

The second is hihat splash (opening hihat while playing with sticks) It's hard to trigger accurately, you have to open it quite a bit before striking it for it to sound. Maybe it's a settings thing but I've tried quite a few trigger options and while it's gotten better it's not perfect.

For the price it's great!

Not the most sturdiest EDrum in the world. But it delivers as promised.

I don?t really use the onboard sounds, I use it as a controller for a PC Drum VST plugin. So, when comparing the onboard sounds with that it feels lacking in sound quality. But I thing it's not really a fair comparison.

They sound very good but my drum module display broke twice...

Still early days, but...

I only played it for about 7h, and I can already tell you a few things. Overall, it's a decent kit. I like that it has 4 toms, 2 crashes, ride, high-hat, snare and kick drum, like a proper drum kit. It sounds decent, but could be better. Presets aren't that many, but it's sufficient for practicing and having fun. Built-in tracks are also fun, but sometimes too simple and not plenty enough. These are details. There are three things that annoy me the most: 1) it's not very responsive. Sometimes you have to hit a bit too hard to get the right trigger on the ride and on the high-hat. 2) Some cables are not long enough. This is a problem for me, because I am left-handed and I share the kit with a right-handed player. Every time I want to play, I want to swap the positions of the kick and the high-hat, but the cables coming from the control box don't allow for the high-hat to be placed much farther than its default position. So I get very limited and cannot access the rest of the kit. I will try to solve this by buying extension jacks. 3) Initially I had a problem with the high-hat, which kept rotating away from me. I solved it by screwing the mounting pole better. Last but not least, the kit is not as quiet as you'd hope. If you play it late night and your neighbour is on the other side of the wall, I'm pretty sure he'll still hear you.

Cables and Bundles

For beginners like me, please have in mind:

The bundle will save you some money on things you will definitely need such as the headphones and the throne which, if you don’t have, you will need.

If you plan on connecting your drums to a computer or a game console or iPad, you will also need a USB Midi cable or USB type A/B.

tool for a little man ..

The tool was created and tested by a man of small stature ...

The stand had to be increased with additional pipes.

Drums on 8 had to be replaced by 10 ...short wires had to be lengthened ...It would be possible to put additional plates, but there are no inputs ... After modernization and refinement, it turned out not a bad tool ...

High quality and easy to use.

This is a good drum set. Easy to use and good quality. I wouldn’t rate is 5 stars because it has its glitches sometimes. But I recommend it 100% for any beginner.

Great for the price but not if you're looking for something robust

It's a great kit for the price but the sounds and features leave you wanting for more. As an intermediate-level player who has previously owned multiple acoustic kits and a Roland TD-9KV, this kit was a disappointment in terms of the sound quality and triggering/dynamics. Using a VST greatly improves the experience.

Pros:

- Good build quality, stable enough

- Great amount of pads/cymbals

- Looks sleek

- Sound layering (partially) possible

Cons:

- Poor triggering reminds you that after all this is an inexpensive kit

- Hi-Hat control is quite bad, affecting the playability

- Sound samples really leave you unsatisfied

Verdict:

Great kit for the price, if you're relatively new to e-drums. Best option for the price range. If you're experienced and prefer quality over quantity though, you'll find it hard to love it.

Very good for the price

The module does not have 12 trigger inputs, only has 10 (including the 2nd crash and 4th tom).

The sounds are not the best but are ok.

The trigger response is very good.

The bassdrum is stable.

I purchased these 3 months agon now as a beginner/practice set as I can't play an acoustice set in my home for the obvious reasons of noise levels. The response is really good and they dont actually sound too bad for a budget edrum. After learning how to play a bit I just find the hi hat can be a bit patchy if I am trying to play with finese and feel especially with the foot pedal just doesnt react like an acoustic hi hat. Overall I am delighted with them, very glad I bought them. I dont expect them to last a lifetime though will have to see about that i seem to be a hard hitter and so far the seem to enjoy the beating I give them
