Mollenhauer 2446 Canta Tenor Recorder Reviews
Well constructed. Rich sound.
This is a beautifully weighted instrument that feels well balanced when held. It has a warm honey coloured appearance. The keys feel well anchored and operate effortlessly. The joints all feel well constructed and provide a sound fit. The tone is is consistent and rich. The gaps between the holes on the right hand, feel slightly bigger than other tenors I have owned and took me a while to get used to it. I intend to always have this model in my collection.
A lovely instrument with a beautiful sound
This replaced an old Schreiber Sonata that I got 30+ years ago. It is a world of difference. Light to hold, the Canta tenor feels good in the hand and has a lovely and robust sound. The double key at the bottom will take some getting used to, but the design seems very good indeed. I am delighted with this purchase.
Loveley tone especially at the bottom of the range
I needed a new instrument because my old Rossetti (bought in 1963 for about £15) had reached the end of its useful life, especially since severe cracks appeared in the head joint after a mishap. I was looking for good sound quality, especially at the bottom end, and I believe that I have found it in this instrument, which (after 3 weeks) is now almost broken in.
Sound quality is excellent throughout the range, although it took some time to master the keys for C and C#. The balance is very good, especially with the thumb rest. The instrument is very well made.
