Mollenhauer 4119R Adris Dream Soprano Reviews
Soprano
We bought this recorder almost 5 years ago. It is still played on a almost daily base. The quality is still very good!
Good looking; Fuller sound; E' too sharp
This dream recorder looks gorgeous. I have already used it in several performances. After one performance, one guy, who was attracted by it and wanted to buy one, came to me to ask about the recorder.
Compared to my plastic/resin Aulos Haka soprano, it sounds noticeably fuller and louder.
One weakness in tuning is that the second E is too sharp. As a result, I have to use a very light breath pressure to play it in tune. The right pressure for the note is significantly lower than the adjacent notes, which makes it a little bit hard to control. And when played in tune, the note has a relatively low volume (too quiet) compared to adjacent notes. I am wondering whether the Dream Edition version will be better in tuning.
yes it is a dream
This is a delight. The first recorder ever on which I could reach ALL the tone holes reliably from the start. Also pleased that it can be played quite loudly without sounding drastically shrill. I still sometimes have problems getting the high notes (top E onward) but hope to overcome this in the near future. I have seen its appearance criticised, but am myself not at all averse to a little glitz.
All in all I like it so much that I've bought the plastic model as well for when I practise for a long time.
