Nice rich tone.

The Mollenhauer modern alto in pearwood with double keys (5926) has a nice, rich tone in the first octave, with the lowest notes significantly louder than a regular (e.g. Denner) alto recorder. One minor issue: the middle F# (2nd octave) is about 15 cents flat, but alternate fingerings can be used to correct this.

I also tried the rosewood version of this recorder, but returned it because some of the notes were harsh due to the open grain of rosewood. Pearwood gives a more pleasant tone.
