You guessed it: Funky!
It adds depth and movement to my bass lines - one or our songs in particular.
Sound-wise, this has an incredible variety, so you can be creative. Although it looks more suited for Disco and Funk, I use it in Grunge and Metal, and it is useful for covering whatever you like if you have time to discover the tone.
I got this one at the same time I got a Big Muff nano, so I didn't use much of the fuzz.
Funny enough, it is a tiny pedal!
What I dislike: the intensity knob is not that hard to turn, so, it may be messed during the gig, but rarely.
All else is to shake the stage.
Really good for those Bootsy Collins vibes
If you are looking for an inspiring sound coming out of your bass guitar and you are in the like of Bootsy Collins then you should definitely give this pedal a try.
I use it with my fender P-bass and to my Ampeg BA-210 V2 bass guitar amp. It matches really good with the LaBella 760FS Deep Talking flatwound strings that I have installed on this bass guitar. With this set-up I am very close to the James Jamerson (Motown) sound.
By adding the Mooer Bass Sweeper in the chain, I slightly shape the classic Motown sound into a more Bootsy-type sound. This way it cut's better through the mix. But be careful not to overdo it because too much envelope filter can sound annoying. Keeping the intensity knob around 9 - 10 o'clock will limit the pedal's presence in a level that is groovy and interesting enough without sounding cheesy in the mix.
I also own a EBS BassIQ envelope filter which is a more expensive and great overall bass envelope filter, and I have found that the Mooer is pretty good for what it does without breaking the bank. I would recommend it to someone who likes funky sounds.
Graet value for money
Good sound range from a tiny little thing. Not as good as MXR but for 47 eur, this is a good deal. The knobs feel a bit too sensitive, wish they were sturdier and stay in position more steadily, but hey - can't complain.
really didn't like the sound, sounds and feels cheap
pro - cheap
con - sound is cheap as well, the filter is very aggresive and unpleasant, adds weird harmonics, does not generally compliment the sound. but of course, that's just an opinion.
Handy, small and affordable pedal to have
Delivers a pretty nice sound considering you can wrap your whole hand in it! It's really fun to mess with, but kind of a one trick pony for such a quirky effect. There are a few things that should be noted though.
1- I prefer when the 'Fuzz' is engaged but it gives you a boost in volume when you activate the pedal. The intensity knob reduces the effect itself and not the volume output (which I guess could have been another feature).
2- I play my bass with the knob that controls treble half way turned and even then I found it better to turn it all down. This pedal picks up every string 'pluck' or 'smack' on the pick-ups reproduces it with a very piercing high sound unless you play more calmly. But maybe that's something I'll get used to or fix with more fine tuning on the preamp that's running before.
I basically bought it so I didn't have pay for shipment. Overall, for the price (!!), it's a great sounding pedal and with some other pedals running delivers very tasty sounds that I'm sure will be using!
Nice little toy for the occasional bass freak out
I consider this a nice toy for use with my bass on the odd occasion, say for a whacky bass solo, or the odd bit of funk fueled mayhem. It doesn't break the bank and you can get some decent funky tones out of it with the various controls it has; however if you're looking for a dedicated, high quality envelope filter pedal, I'd look elsewhere. For the odd use here and there tough, it's fine.
Funky little pedal!
I'd been wanting to buy an envelope filter pedal for quite a while but MXR envelope filter is rather expensive so I decided to go for this one and boy I wasn't disappointed! I really like the compact design of it, It's very practical. I really like the Fuzz mode on it. Awesome pedal for funk and great value for money.
Great cheap Envelope filter!
This is my first envelope filter and I am very pleased with it.Everything is where it's supposed to be :)
mooertastic.....
bought this pedal after reading a few reviews and watching a few videos.
its brilliant, you can change the wah effect from upper through to lower ranges like on a wah pedal. the fuzz when put to max kicks butt and when added to a chorus and compression ped' really generates a cool sound.
this thing is smaller than my mobile phone and fits perfectly into my bass tool kit box.
it doesn't use a battery which could actually put some players off but then if you have a good power pack it's never an issue.
makes simple riffs sound funky and brings a new element to your playing.
big thumbs up and pretty good pricing makes this a real bonus..
rock on.
6months on this hasn't stopped pulling of tricks. mega pedal.
Mooer Bass Sweeper
I just got this pedal a week ago, and I completely fell in love with it!
Normally, i'm not that big a funk bass player, but since I've got this pedal, I discovered grooves I didn't know I had...
Build quality is A++. Very sturdy pedal, throw it at someone's head, and the damage will be considerable (to the person's head at least..) ;-)
Sound is A+. the possibilities with the intensity and range are legio. You really can get any sound you want out of it. The only thing that annoys me sometimes is the whooshing sound when your filter drops down after a sustained note. This is however removable by the intensity knob.
Price-wise, I don't think you can get a better bass envelope filter at this price anywhere!
decent packaging, good price, great build quality, and an awesome sound.
All in all, a must-have if you're planning to buy a decent effect pedal for your bass!!
