Great bass synth

Really, really great bass synthesizer with some very deep tones. The synth comes to life when you use the PC editor, but even without it you can create some amazing Moog bass tones. There is a reason why a lot of people consider Moog to be the gold standard.

Solid bass synth

My 1st Moog and not disappointed. Easy to use and great sound in a small footprint. Lovely Moog build quality too.

Simply amazing product!

Moog synths are - in my opinion - the best on the market, alongside some made by Korg. This particular synth is amazing for bases.

If your workflow requires a solid base like mine does, then I highly recommend the minitaur.

Small in Size. but a Beast in Sound

This was the first Moog product i bought ever - and as soon as i got it i knew i was hooked! Having used a Taurus in a studio before, i was hoping for something similar - well, i was wrong - to my ears (and to the Taurus owner) it's spot-on!

Pros: Moog quality, Taurus history - at an affordable price!

Cons: I do have to read the manual for some functions

For bass, it can't be beat

While still a Moog, it has its own unique take on bass. Nothing cuts through like this one.

Nice

pros:

the sound is nice, the built is sturdy, integration with editor is neat.

cons:

probably me, I hear some low (in volume) white/pink noise type of sound over any sound I play (using headphones). will try to hunt it down, but could come from my lack of experience with analog synths. Seems to be in all of the editor patches tho, it is modulated too, with no apparent link to the modulation rate on the synth itself.

Will edit if I find my fault

Great product for the price!

Love that almost every parameter is linked to a knob, and that the software update has enhanced more sonic capabilities. Which means that there is more potential to utilise the Minitaur.

It has the classic Moog sound, yet only utilises a small area of your table. Super handy if you have limited room space and already own a keyboard!

a beast

this machine is a beat. sounds epic and it does exactly what it says on the tin. the external audio in is perfect for adding that moog filter to other sounds and the extra computer editor is great for storing patches for recall. moog moog moog.

true analog synth!

I bought this one to add to my analog setup for that real Moog sound and bassline. This guy does the job very well. I would recommend it to everyone as an entry-level synth. It's straight-forward and easy to use, you can either play with a keyboard or sequence it, the oscillators are beefy, the filter is adorable, and overall feel is great.

buy the synth, love the filter

There is no hype behind the Moog brand: what they produce are nothing but outstanding products.

This is probably the cheapest Moog synth you can buy, and I feel like saying that, if you can afford buying only one synth, make it this one. Its biggest, and in my opinion, only limitation is the number of octaves it covers (it is a bass synth, after all).

You may want to try some of the built-in factory presets, but honestly after 30 minutes of playing with it, you will forget about presets, plugins, and any digital witchcraft (that the Minitaur supports anyway): you will just want to turn knobs! It will be at this point that you understand what they mean when they talk about 'shaping the sound with your hands'. All the controls are so intuitive and responsive, that you just know what to do.

And it because of its great responsiveness and intuitiveness, that I also use it a lot as a modulation filter on practically anything. This is probably not as complete and featured like the Moogerfooger MF-101, but until I can afford buying one, the Minitaur will act as an excellent stopgap.

One last note: with the latest firmware revision, the Minitaur can also work as a MIDI2CV converter. This is not listed among the feature in the product description at the time I wrote this review.
