Amazing sound card

I have used a MOTU product before, but I sold my old sound card, because it was too big for me. I got a Focusrite, but had huge problems with dropouts and driver support.

Decided to buy a MOTU M2. After a few days my card restarted a few times by itself. I wrote to customer support, received a fast and detailed response, followed the instructions and I've never had problems since.

This is a wonderful product and thanks to MOTU I can create and listen to some quality sound for a reasonable price!

Fantastic audio interface

This is a really excellent audio interface, good volume gain and a detailed clear sound, just plug and play. Really like the Graphic Screen Visuals of Input and Output on the front face. Solid build.

Amazing audio interface

Only audio card I could find with a choice between phono or balanced TRS for outputs, which makes it really versatile.

Generally I really like the features: clear vu-meter, extra loopbacks with MOTU's driver, super low latency, solid build, direct monitoring, volume knob...

These features make that audio interface very versatile: can do instrument recording but also DJing, podcasting, audiophile playback, MIDI interface and more.

I bought an M2 at the time where the M4 was unavailable on the long term due to component shortage - just be aware that with the M2 you can't have headphones monitoring separate from master out, unless you use two mono channels. E.g. for DJing applications you might want an M4 if you want to separate monitoring and master out in stereo.

The audio quality is pristine as far as I can tell for what I do with it.

The price seems good value for the quality and the breadth of what can be done with it.

Price is KING

For this price there is no other DAC - even way more expensive DAC can not bring this quality of sound AND more options to the table - like very low lanetcy , MIDI , individual 48V and MONITOR switch large LCD display and very ease to use - BRAVO MOTU

Quality

Really low latency, good build quality, superb sound, nice no-nonsense design. Cool screen. I will probably be looking at the MOTU UltraLite mk5 for a surround setup one day in the future. ;-)

Amazing Audio Interface

No complaints that I have for this device. Everything from the knobs to the internal components is perfect. It drives high powered headphones quite well which should be useful for people who don't want a dedicated DAC (I can say that it is definitely useful for me). The screen is very helpful for monitoring your levels. I highly recommend spending the extra 50 €/$ on this over a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or other devices in this price range, you will not regret it.

Awesome

Best in this price range. Only issue I have is sometimes Vmware/nomachine decides to break the drivers, so I have to quickly change the settings to 'reset' the device.

Other than that, 0 hiss in audio, all inputs and outputs have great sound, recording in cubase and standalone amps no problems. Can power HD650 quite well though I'm in the 60-80% range in terms if gain which is quite high, paired with an SM57 its a versatile setup.

Still highly recommend this.

It just works

Not much more to add. Just works, flawlessly. It can drive my DT990 Pro 250ohm's without any problems as well. The screen is a nice addition.

Solid Beginner DAC

Well thought out DAC with good clean quality. Like that it is USB powered but has a switch so you don't have to have it on all the time or keep disconnecting it. Love the big volume knob which feels nice and the fact it has midi in and out. Great simple product with no issues so far, stable drivers just does what it says on the tin.

You can trust it!

Cannot really compare to similar items at same price rate, but this one I can suggest to friends for sure!

One of the best audio interfaces you can get right now

At this price, with these inputs / outputs, this interface is possibly one of the best ones you can get. My only gripe is I started wishing there were more outputs. Might consider switching to the Motu M4...

Sounds and looks a lot more expensive than it is

MOTU M2 has got impressive built quality, looks awesome and, most importantly, its sound quality is simply outstanding for this price range.

Pros

- Professional sound quality on inputs and outputs, in my opinion the best in this price range;

- LCD meters are both informative and great-looking.

- MIDI input and output

- USB-powered

Cons

- No monitor/mix knob (its big brother M4 has it, but not M2)

Overall its one of the best compact audio interfaces out there. To beat this interface sound- and quality-wise, I think you have to pay more than twice its price.

MOTU M2

Top Tier entry level interface. It is very easy to understand and it easy to use and get started.

great sound for the money

the motu m2 has very nice sound , with really nice preamps that are very transparent even with very demanding acoustic instruments from central asia . all in all its very good interface for home recordings and on the go.

i would have liked to see dsp fx with it , but that wasn't the case. its solid , good sound , nice screen , good build. suitable for home studios and on the go.

Powerful yet portable

First time using this portable Motu interface and I'm pleasantly surprised. I used to own the MK3 years ago and the quality was outstanding. The M2 is very similar in quality. I listened to some of my recordings with my previous audio interface and they sounded appalling! Once I re-recorded the instruments using the M2, the quality was significantly better. I would definitely recommend this device to anyone who wants to put together a small-scale home studio.

MOTU M2

Great sound card. The loopback function works, it records music at the level of Steinberg ur22. In fact, the preamps there are almost the same, so I advise.

Otroligt dåligt med windows 11

Funkade bra på min tidigare dator, men när jag uppgraderat till en nyare så började ljudkortet funka helt kasst. Har försökt lösa det på alla möjliga sätt men det är troligen motus drivers som funkar dåligt med nyare AMD-processorer och windows 11. Hör pop-ljud ofta och ljudet distortas och försvinner helt efter en stund när jag kör genom fl.

Väldigt missnöjd.

Really Big Upgrade

I purchased this to replace my Focusrite Solo 3rd Gen interface because it was unreliable. My microphone was always crackling, when I was listening to audio it made random noises and it was really annoying. Motu M2 is a huge upgrade for me, couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase. The small screen on the interface looks really nice, sounds a lot clearer than my old interface and also it's a lot more reliable, build quality feels a lot better as well. I can only recommend it to anyone who's considering this buy!

An Upgrade

I bought this as step up upgrade from my Scarlett Solo 3rd gen.

I'm really satisfied with it so far, haven't encountered any glitches or artifacts experimenting with the settings and driver seems stable to use.

Soundwise, it's different from my lil' Scarlett, feels little more open and clear, most obvious in the high end of things, Hi-hats and cymbals coming through clearly and more noticable, and bass seems more toned down compared to the Scarlett. It'll take a bit to get used to but I like it, the whole spectrum feels more balanced.

So far, easy to use, works great, sounds great, I hope it'll last, I recommend!
