Amazing keyboard for the NI ecosystem

I am using it with Maschine MK3 and it is the perfect combo to drive Komplete Ultimate ecosystem. The integration with Maschine is great (which has been deprecated in the MK3 version) so I'll stay with this one!

Best eco system

The quality of the product is great! Sometimes it has few bugs with Logic X, but I guess all gear does. If you like NI plugins, this will be a great controller. No doubt.

The best MIDI Keyboard for NI users

While the build is really solid and the keyboard has decent out of the box integration with DAWs (tested with Cubase), where this keyboard really shines is when you use it with the Komplete Kontrol software from Native Instruments.

Being able to select and configure your VST instrument (as long as it NKS compatible) without even looking at your computer screen is a game changer and makes your workflow way better.

However, if you are not in the Native Instruments ecosystem and/or not planning to enter it, a lot of the benefits of this keyboard quickly fade and you’ll definitely be better off with something else.

NI quality built in

NI have always had a solid and slick construction, this board is no different. The LEDs can be changed from blue befor you ask and yes you heard correctly this will plug and play with nigh on any DAW and become its mild feature controller, Handy huh.

Just buy it, it's great!

Most importantly, the semi-weighted keyboard action is superb and a joy to play. All of the knobs and switches feel smooth and responsive. The displays are clear and easy to see. The Komplete Kontrol software is easy to set up and use. All-in-all this is a very nicely made piece of kit and I'm glad that I chose it for my project studio - it's worth the extra cash.

best midi keys in 2020 year

I have it plugged to the Steinberg UR22 mkII and no delay is notable. I work with it in the Cubase DAW and it is wonderful (especially when you use NI instruments and soundbanks).

Note that you can't play with it without a computer as it doesn't have any built-in sounds nor speakers.

Awesome controller

The first thing I noticed after unpacking is the excellent quality. The buttons are pressed gently, the handles rotate smoothly and with the same resistance. The plastic looks great and is pleasant to the touch. The base is solid, metal with rubber feet.

Is very difficult to describe any keyboard, since you need to touch it yourself. I can say it's very high quality. The keys have a soft stroke and the lighting is just great.

After switching on the keyboard connected with Logic Pro X without any additional installations. This keyboard comes with the Komplete Select package, which includes 45 GB of libraries and plug-ins that allow you to start playing music right away.

And here is where the full potential of this keyboard is revealed. Actually, this is not just a MIDI keyboard, but a full-fledged control station. You can switch between DAW tracks and configure virtual instruments and plug-ins directly from it.

So, NI Komplete Kontrol S61 MK2 is a high-quality product that has become an indispensable assistant for me in my home Studio.

Worth buying? Absolutely yes - wish I had had it before1

I use this keyboard with Cubase 10.5, and a decent Kontakt sample library I've been collecting for years. I bought the keyboard because my new studio desk didn't fit the 88 note weighted keyboard I normally use. The gizmos and gadgets were kind of interesting, but were not really part of my buying decision. How stupid I was. This thing is really, really useful in ways I'd not imagined. Most useful to me is the time saving. With Spitfire samples, the ones I use most, it can take quite a while to load a patch to discover it's wrong, so you pick another and another. This keyboard grabs a short sample of the sounds on offer from what you have in your library and turning the knob lets you hear a tiny sample. This small feature is worth the money alone. You must use the Kontakt control app, and not the normal Kontakt VST you used to use - on mine I couldn't;t work out why the features didn't work, until I noticed the extra VST in t he list, and as soon as you get used to using this, you can start using the keyboard screens and knobs. The less on each key also help with key switches and different sounds - I'm very impressed with it and wish I'd bought one when they first came out!

Awesome Keyboard and Software Bundle

I bought the S61 for my home studio (guest room!) and I am very happy with it. It took a bit of time to become accustomed to the keybed (I have mainly a piano background) but a few days of playing and I feel right at home. I have it hooked up via USB to a Yamaha AG06 audio interface and to a Yamaha reFace YC organ and it's perfect for playing the organ as well. The keybed is very, very high quality and build of the whole unit is excellent. Not too heavy, not too light, just right. Very little key noise or wobbling. The Komplete Select bundle that comes with it includes 'The Gentleman', a very nice piano. The synths are fun, too, but it's the piano sounds that I am after. I next bought 'Noire' from NI and I am blown away! What a piano. Love the whole Komplete system and the S61 is a very good interface to it. Further, I was amazed that the shipping from Germany to my little town in Mexico took only four days! UPS kept me posted during the entire shipment and allowed me to pay duty ahead of time online.

The One?

If you are looking for a good feel to play, this controller don?t make you upset! beatiful, modern and not so expensive.

but, native instruments could give him some maps for others softwares different from Kontrol.
