Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol X1 MkII Reviews
A small monster
This controller, is a small monster. Good, potent and have a small size.
Allied with Traktor Pro 3, this gear can be used with a pair of turntables to make infinity possibilites in your dj set. And removes the need to use a mouse or trackpad to search for your tracks.
An awesome controller
I started playing sets at parties with a controller of a friend, it's an impulse 300. A nice, cheap, intro lvl controller. But working on Traktor with it felt like something is missing. so I've decided to get the X1/Z1 bundle and boy am I happy I did that.
The X1 is an exciting controller, gets a bit of getting used to but it's just awesome! You can do everything, and after a bit of practice you'll ask yourself two questions -
1. Why didn't I get it sooner
2. why do you even need more in a controller
I highly recommend anyone who wants a smaller set-up or who's getting started to get this controller.
Compact controllers, perfect for 4-deck mixing in Traktor
I use 2 units of the X1 in Traktor for four deck mixing. It's just the perfect tool to go along with a mixer of your choice. I have a xone 92 and an ESI gigaport+ soundcard; with the x1's this setup is the go-to configuration when mobile DJing.
Highly recommend the x1's for the ultimate setup when CDJ's are not an option. The x1 can also be setup alongside with CDJ's in HID mode to take advantage of Traktor's effects.
Fantastic bit of kit!
Truly excellent software controller. Very intuitive, well laid out and perfectly portable. It works seamlessly with Traktor. Transport control, looping and effects are a real breeze to operate. Complete enough to run a entire dj set and small enough to fit in your backpack. What is not to like?
Technically Precised Contestant
i could experience more controllers before purchasing them ,electronic music does offer a wide range of definitions, hours spent in front of computer materialized in the precised product achievements.technically i could write about the pleasure of having it every layer i put down, track after track or setting the next playlist , not mention the simple guidelines from where u can build up your perfect mix.uc-33 evolution made history in the digital age and i think Maschine Jam and X1 MK2 could be a strong contestant.
Love it
I've been using it for 5 years already, never had any issue with it, well built, joy and pleasure to use it.
Great alternative to larger controllers
The fact that is done for Traktor and is so small and compact, makes this controller the perfect alternative for entry level digital DJ's
Cant beat this, it just works perfectly
Cant beat this, it just works perfectly
X1 Mk1 was better
I've been using the MK1 since it came out, but the play and cue buttons have stopped responding which forced me to upgrade to the newer version, but I can not get used to the slight changes that NI "improved" in this version. Removing one of the knobs was a big mistake in my opinion. I used them to move my loop sections - a lot of times in the heat of the moment you trigger a loop too late, and for this it was extremely useful to be able to move them by one beat with the two top knobs. However, this cannot be done now without completely remapping the unit. I think it's a shame that they've discontinued support for the MK1 in later OS X versions - I really hope NI will release an MK3 version which is more similar to the original unit. I will have to sell these ones and look for two Mk1 on the second hand market. Please make sure you're comfortable with the changes before you upgrade the from MK1.
Great little controller
I use this in combination with a Z1 for a full set up (Z1 has the crossfader and levels) or on its own alongside my bigger rig with XDJs, where I use it just to control Traktor fx. Good build quality and nice and light. Can throw in a rucksack and take anywhere.
X1 MKII
Absolute beast!!
So many hidden features, works perfectly with mapping and integration. The touch fade does take some getting used to but that's only a minor thing. :)
Well built and reliable.
X1 essential for Traktor users
The X1 is an essential piece of kit for me as I play using traktor. Great access to effects, good layout and user friendly. I have used two in the past for 4 deck sets, this also compliments the other great little controller NI have for Remix decks, the F1.
Pro's - too many to list
I don't have any con's however I'd advise you master the functions before you play live and get too funky!!
Best controller to start using traktor
i've been using traktor for over 4 years but everytime i struggled by using timecode or using the maschine mapped.
It was really annoying and the X1 MkII made it all easier.
I use it alongside with an z1 mixer. It's a great portable set-up and you have everything you need.
Brilliant Portable controller
Very impressed with this little unit. Can be used with a small internal setup with a sound card or added to much more complex modular setups with external mixers/vinyl setups etc with Traktor.Build quality is very good and works right out of the box.Good price to !
really good
Nothing to say, it works well, really well, it's NI eventho sometimes i had little bug but nothing which stopped me from playing in front of a crowd.
The browser button & loops button might drop off from the controller (& you could then lose them) therefore i strongly advice You to glue them to the controller. put it off, put a really small amount of glu under it, & put them back (on them 3)
It's easy to do & you then sure to do not lose them anywhere
UP TO YOU ! that's the only trouble i had so far !
Great bit of kit
I love this bit of kit since it was upgraded (didn't much like the mk1) The assignable touch-strips are very useful although I mostly use them the way one would use a jog wheel. The effects control is much better now that the flux has been included. Just remember to take it out of 'flux' if you're looping part of a track for some time over something else but want to drop into the original track again. You may find the track has finished by the time you drop it back in! (hahaha...yes, I know, I know)
Works very well!!
I bought this Traktor Kontrol MKII with Traktor Scratch A6 and use it as a compliment with my two vinyl players. It was very easy to set up, just plug the usb in, start Traktor Scratch and then choose for with decks to use it with, very easy. You can configure it in many ways for exampel effects and so. The buttons feels very nice and smooth, and the knobs as well. I can really recommend this product.
Quality product
The little unit is enough to control everything in Traktor along with a mixer. You get fast access to all most used futures a DJ would need and the way you can assign many different things to the touch strips makes it a real fun unit to play with FX and loop rolls.
