been around since the 70s n heard/used Hiwatt-Marshall-Roland with Hofner-Fender-Rickenbacker-MusicMan. This is my very top choice for a valve amp that delivers good either in studio and live. pros: pre and final valve amp; a smart biasing system that really let you choose how to manage the valves/sound; easy to carry and a typical Fender heavy duty crafting; just listen that Beatles "Here Comes the Sun" bass tone to mention one of the possibilities; you can select any of the two channel settings with the provided footswitch (quite handy on stage); it can be used alone in studio with *no* speakers . cons: imho none! the price matches the quality you get IMHO the promotional video doesn't really show you what you could get with this pearl... my choice was to have two Fender 115...

Ampeg SVT CL

This SVT classic will bring you a classic rock sound. It will growl and bark like you know from your favourite rock albums. Like the JCM 800 for guitars it could be considered a one trick pony but what a trick it is. downsides: it's not as a good as a 'real' old US blue stripe sound wise, I could not get a bad sound out of that one. This can get ... from great to ok. It's heavy ... It has many valves (or tubes) and a massive transformer. There are more fun things to carry. Plus: It's a classic sound for a reason. Still works like a charm despite being 'not a US' built. If you like the SVT sound you can't go wrong with this one.

I have been a bass player for several years and I had used a change a lot of diffrend equipment. I use my Orange with Fender American Deluxe thru Orange OBC410 and it sounds amazing. Orange can really produce diffrent tones and it is a powerful amp. The construction of the head is like a tank. It is very well made and a beauty to the eye. Only bad thing is, that the amp weights a tone! (24 kg). I play diffrent styles of music. From funk, jazz, rock, electronic, metal,.....and the EQ on the amp is very responsive at changing diffrent tones and more fat heavy sounds with a bit of heavy gain or light jazzy sound. The amp is powered with 1x ECC83 & 1x ECC81 preamp valves and 4x 6550 power amp valves, which produces a really great sounding, In 8 years I STILL haven`t change them becouse...

Ampeg PF-50T Bass Head

I've used and AMPEG SVT 2 PRO for almost 20 years and never thought I'd need anything else...............until this came along! I was looking for a compact valve bass amp for rehearsals and small values which could feed a PA on bigger nights and didn't weigh 30kg............this is it. I bought it with the PF115 cab and even together you can move them with one hand. I've now played it with Hofner, Ric, Gibson and Stingray and every bass sounds amazing, they each sound 10x what you'd expect from a little amp.......it's the best little valve amp available in my opinion............and its louder than you'd think. If you are looking at this review, I'd say buy it, you'll be surprised, There's not many nights I need the SVT thanks to this amp PROs It sounds amazing Not much choice if...

Ampeg V-4B Bass Head

It has the expected all-tube amazing Ampeg sound and provides all you need for up to medium-size gigs and probably even more. It is a great sounding amp either paired with the 212AV or two 210AV, mostly suitable for studio work. But even though it is not the top model of Ampeg I would expect a better build quality. For example the tubes are not mounted properly and steadily as in the case of the SVT. Additionally they are mounted at the top instead of the bottom as in the SVT which is also the logical and safe way I believe. For these quality issues I am reluctant using it at a live performance and use it only at home. Conclusion: For this price tag the build quality issues I mentioned shouldn't appear. Hopefully no issues will appear any time soon - even though the build quality...
