compact killer amp

I used this amp with guitars, syhtesizers and drum machines. It just adds such a crispy punch to sound that I can't believe I am achieving this cheap! Highly recommend anyone to try pairing it with different cabinets and use it with instuments other than electric guitars too. The tone know is straight forward but it is easy to navigate a good tone.

My only complaint is the flimsiest cable I have ever seen that came with this amp. you can break it with a simple drop so be very careful about that.

Amazing practice amp

Great for getting the best out of your guitars at home.

My live playing days are over and I’ve moved on much of my gear, so to have an amp with this quality and at a volume that doesn’t drive everyone crazy is fantastic. I would highly recommend this over any practice amps out there, as some day I’ll have a more private practice space and I can add bigger speakers without changing the head :)

The only drawbacks are the limited controls on the amp head itself and it’s difficult to get nice bottom end at low volume but overall serious value for money and looks fantastic

Orange does it again...

I decided to add a Micro Terror to my Orange collection after owning a Micro Dark for a while; it absolutely hasn't let me down - the same great ease of use as the Micro Dark but with a little less gain and a brighter Sound overall. I love both but generally I find the Micro Terror to be the one that more readily gives me the Sound I want.

Really well-built, sounds great on all Settings, versatile, loud as hell, takes pedals really well, bonehead easy to use. I love it.

I also changed the tubes in both this one and my Micro Dark for some TAD ones and they made the sound instantly twice as good, warmer, smoother and more rounded, and with a little more gain overall.

Thoroughly recommend these great little amps!

Really good

These are a remarkably good amp for their price and size. As an amp for small gigs (or even for bigger events) these perform far beyond what they look like they should be capable of.

The first thing to note about these amps is obviously their size. They are significantly smaller than a loaf of bread, and look amusingly small on top of a 2x12 cabinet.

Having said this, the sound could never be described as 'small'. These are louder than any amp this size has a right to be. I have used mine in some big rooms and still had sound guys telling me to turn down. If you're playing in venues with microphones for electric guitar, there'll never be an issue with dialling in a great clean tone. If anything, you'll want to run them a little bit hotter (isn't that always the way with guitarists?) because in my experience the best sounds have been just on the edge of breakup.

I generally dial in a fairly transparent clean tone to use as a base for drive pedals, and have found that they work well with pedals. Obviously, there is no effects loop, so that's something to be aware of if you like running pedals through a loop.

One of the most important recommendations I could make with regard to these amps is to consider using a larger cabinet than the matching PPC108 cab. I have been using a Jet City 24S+ 2x12 cabinet, and have found that while it takes away from the portability of the stack a bit, the gains in tone are well worth it.

I can't comment on the auxiliary jack which is included, but I'm sure it would serve a purpose if you needed it, and I suppose there's no harm in having the facility there.

In terms of cons, the tone control is fairly basic , and only allows a certain level of tone shaping, but it does have a good range. In general, I keep it set between 11am and 1pm and find that going outside of this leads to very dark and muddy or ear-piercingly bright.

To summarise, this is a really good amp for the price, and for me it has performed consistently for the past three years without missing a beat. I'm so fond of them, that I bought a second one.

Unbelievable little amp and THE one to have

I have not purchased a product in a long time which has completely blown me away in terms of really surprising me how good it it.

Firstly it is tiny, really tiny, just a bit bigger than a small carton of milk (can't think of other things that size) and weighs nothing at all (mainly due to the external power supply). I bought it in conjunction with the matching gig bag.

The second surprise for it's size is that t is loud, very loud. I am running it through a home-made 1x12 cab (as I personally think the matching 1x8 is a bit naff and there are lots of alternatives n the same price range - Harley Benton G112 for instance) and I am getting to 9 o'clock and starting to worry about the upsetting the neighbours.

I was split between this and the Micro Dark, but I wanted more volume before breaking and entering into distortion territory. With the gain cranked to 2 o'clock you get a gorgeous rock overdrive sound and above that into mild to middle distortion.

The tone control is very basic but extreme from ear splitting sharpness to sounding like it is under a dozen pillows. I have combined this with an Orange Two Stroke to drive the front end a bit harder and have a much wider control of the tone shaping and I am in heaven.

The Aux input is a 'bit of whatever', I can't see myself using it and they also dropped it on the Dark model. The lack of effects loop is also not a deal breaker.

You could easily do a small pub gig with this amp and there are many videos on the 'the tube' which show how it can easily drive a 4x12. There is also the option to swap out the pre-amp valve for a better one, but until the one in it dies, I am quite happy with the sound.

Lastly it is pretty much the price of a decent effects pedal. It is an amp that takes you back to basics, with a phenomenal sound and punch.

As I mentioned at the beginning, there are a few products which have given me a 'wow factor' over the years and this is quite high on that list.

This is an uncategorically superb piece of gear and highly recommended.

Tiny package / Big sounds

I use this only for myself and a little recording. It's a nice little compact design and I really love the chunky dials.

I love the look of the Micro Terror and for such a small thing, it packs a serious punch. I really love the tones I can get out of it and for the type of music I like to play (mainly rock, a little blues) it's perfect for jamming away and getting a nice crunchy tune going.

Little monster

It sounds big. Really big. With an 8 ohm 412 cab it can keep up with the band during rehearsal (with full/high gain). The cleans are not that clean and loud, but they are usable. The notes are distinguishable even with full gain. It's a hybrid amp, but it almost sounds like a tube amp. Very light and portable. The only thing I miss is an effect loop. If you are looking for an Orange sound this is a perfect practice and spare amp.

The Orange sound for a fraction on the price

Great little head easy to carry around from small gigs to rehearsing rooms. Even though I use mine with a 1x12 Orange cab (Celestion V30), it can totally rock on a 4x12 cab too! It is a must have addition to any musician's rig willing to practise easily but without any compromise.

Great British Tone

It's surprising the power that you can hear from this tiny amp, It's very responsive to play style and sounds amazing for a little thing. It doesn't really have many features, no fx loop a simple tone control instead of a proper EQ. Still for what it can do it does well.

Very rich tone.

This thing blows my mind. I use it paired with a 1x12 Cab for live shows in a small bar and it is just packed full of goodness.

Pros.

Very small and light, can easily just throw it in a bag and go.

LOUD. very loud. I never crank it full and it is enough to fill the whole room full of sound.

Surprisingly versatile. It does not have many controls but the range of sounds I managed to get out of it is staggering: Jazzy cleans, classic rock, heavy metal and so on.

Valve pre-amp. Yes. Valve. In this tiny box.

Responds to dynamics like a champ. You can literally play clean melodies, loud chords and distorted power chords by just altering the way you pluck the strings. Amazing.

Takes pedals well. You can actuall boost this thing with an overdrive pedal and achieve some true metal tones, It also handles loopers if the gain isn't too high. Sadly, chorus, delay and reverb no go after distortion is around 1 O'Clock.

Looks really cute.

Cons.

No manual in the box (really surprizing) no warning not to plug into the cab with an instrument lead, no instruction how to replace a valve. Aren't instruction manuals mandatory by the EU law?

No FX Loop (More than makes up for it with its own sounds)

A completely useless headphone jack (the sound is dreadful)

Awkward mains plug, looks like a computer one (nitpicking here)

I love this thing. Had a lot of good comments from the audience about the sound. At this price point it is a steal. It is not perfect but I cannot think of a better sounding amp for this money.

Orange Micro Terror

Fantastic little head. Very responsive even at medium-high gain settings. The overdrive it produces is a really natural one and great for classic rock, blues.

The controls are staright forward, the tone is a set-it-forget-it knob, but you can play around with the gain and volume very nicely. Some people "complain" that it is loud and true, the thing has potential. Its 20 Watt after all. This however does not mean, that it cannot be played at bedroom levels. Gain halfway, volume around 10-11 o`clock works for me.

The headphone output is a nice touch, but I would only use it for cleans. Tried it with gain, the sound is too fuzzy for me and different from the amps natural sound. Never used the aux input.

In conclusion this is a wonderful (and very cute) practice amp.

Super micro Terror!

Great amp for the price.

Solid build, very light and compact.

The tone controls are basic but this is all you need from this little beast!

Has a nice saturated sound as the input sound it is driven from the input tube.

Also it is extremely LOUD for that size! Can drive much bigger cabins with better sound than the little Orange PPC 108

Value for money with great (for the price range) sound. Also great for backup amp.

Frighteningly big noise from a diddy little box

It looks like a toy but packs a hell of a punch. Imagine a kitten that, when it opens it's mouth, roars like a lion.

Great build quality and really nice tube break up on the pre amp when the gain is pushed. The cleans are nice too.

Also, a great tip if you have a Line 6 POD or similar Amp modelling / FX box; use the Aux In to patch the modeller / FX direct to the Micro Terror solid state power amp stage (set the O/P settings to Combo Power Arp or Stack Power Amp).

I am in love.

I couldn't help but laugh when I got this amp out of it's packaging, it was so small and cute! However that changed when I connected it to the Orange PPC108 cab that I bought with it because it sounded incredible!! I was completely baffled at how good it sounds.

Many people complain that this amp doesn't have enough clean headroom but it does. Granted, it doesn't sound Fender clean but it's still nice. But where this amp really excels is when you turn the gain up to 9, or 10 for some face melting british crunch! I play it mainly through a Seymour Duncan Stag Mag neck pickup and can honestly say that even though some people say this amp doesn't work well with single coils, it does! When I disable one of the humbucker coils the sound gets really creamy and crunchy, and sounds very tube-like.

I modified my Fender Mustang 1 amp so that I could connect its speaker to the PPC108 cab and now the amp sounds even better! The sounds seems more rounded and complete somehow, so I recommend running it with two 8'' speakers if you can to get the perfect Orange sound.

An excellent (and nice amplifier)

This Orange really has something of the famous crunch sound by this company. It's tiny and incredibly nice to look at. i plugged in my fender mexico and a les paul, and this little beast really moved some air. I played it through its default orange 1x8'' speaker, and sounds creamy, quite balanced, of course lacking some bass frequencies, but as soon as plugged to a bigger cab it was capable of a much wider frequency spectrum. I would highly recommend this one for anyone who needs a small portable practice amp or anyone who needs the orange sound for recording purposes. It's not the same as 1000$ orange head, but it's well worth even twice its price. Incredible design. Let the head warm up at least 15 minutes and its sound will come up. After 1 hour the sound really starts to sparkle and to compress a bit more at the same time. Expecially great on les paul for clean, and equally on LP and Stratocaster for crunch. Well worth for every guitarist, any guitar that you may have.

Raise the gain knob.

Plays great with the gain know over the half. Otherwise might sound a bit dull and sterile. But have to recognize that with hot pickups or humbuckers it plays generally very well. With my les paul and gain around half, it has a squashy sound with nice harmonics. With gain at 3/4 it screams. It's a tiny yet VERY LOUD beast. If you're in a home studio and want to buy this for recording, beware: it's not a quiet one. Can get pretty loud. Although, I still suggest it for recording, as it's always easier to record decent stuff at low levels with this amp than with most of the others low wattage amps.

The suggested tiny cab to pair with this is nothing exceptional, but works well if you use this amp mainly for practice at home. You can plug it to bigger cabs though, and will sound more open and full, depending on the cabs. That's a nice feature to consider. I heard it's easier to record this one than the Tiny Terror model, but I don't own it so can only speak for the Micro Terror so far. Highly recommended, worth the money for sure!

Loud Little Terror

Briefly:

-Yes, it is very very small. Smaller than a 1,5 liter milk carton.

-With a 2x12" cabinet (or bigger) it is very loud. LOUD ENOUGH FOR BAND PRACTISES AND SMALLER GIGS.

-The sound reminds me very much of the all-valve Tiny Terror.

-I like the higher gain settings. I adjust the overall volume -- well, with the Volume knob, of course.

-If it sounds a wee bit shrill (with single coils) then I use the Tone knob to dial back the trebles.

-A new 12AX7 valve will change the sound somewhat -- but not that much. The stock valve is perfectly OK.

-The Micro Terror sounds good will all my guitars, but for some reason it really sings with my Fender Pawnshop 51 (the guitar has the stock bridge humbucker and a REAL Texas Special neck pickup).

-The Orange Micro Terror is now my main takeaway amp for rehearsals and small gigs.

Nice machine

This does the job. Pretty loud, and nice distortion.

I use it for my bass, and the only thing is that a clean sound does not go loud enough.

Looks great too! People are really surprised to hear what such small thing can do.
