Orange PPC 108 Reviews
It's what I was looking for
Excellent sound quality and volume for the size and the price. It's just what I wanted for messing around at home. Very happy with it.
Small but powerful
I live in an apartment so I was looking for a small guitar cabinet were I could plug my guitar and turn the knob down without interrupting the distortion sound -and also the neighbours- so this cabinet is an amazing option for an apartment. And the best part is if you actually want to take it outdoors or a rehearsal, don't get fooled by its size because it can really get loud. I play my Micro Terror amp head with this cabinet and I must say it's the perfect bundle and pretty cheap. You rarely see a good combo like this one.
Overall, I'm thrilled with this guitar cabinet!
Good little speaker when paired to an Oronge Micro amp
i bought this after i acquired an Orange MicroTerror locally here in NZ.
It's a good matchand ferforms well with my various guitars.
I have it in my bedroom so i feel inspired during the night i can take up , switch on and write a track or three !
Highly recommended especially when paired with a Micro amp from Orange.
Small box, but it's loud!
It's only an 8" speaker so it will only do so much, but plugged into my Orange Micro Terror it goes surprisingly loud and it doesn't sound half bad when you crank it up a little :)
A fun, super portable cab!
Loud Orange
This thing is loud with a warm tone, easy adjust. Recommended
Awesome little box
I wanted to make a small bedroom setup for practicing at home, so i paired this box with Blackstar HT-5 5 watt tube amp thinking that it will be quiet enough so i won't disturb my neighbours with my playing.
I was wrong, for this setup was more that enough loud to fill my apartment with loudness. My neighbours complained (i was pretty sure that my playing was the issue, but still...), so i had to tone it down a bit.
Great build, the box is build like a tank, it has a nice heft to it and will not let you down no matter what.
Absolute recommend.
A brilliant bit of kit
Well built sounds wonderful. Great.
This cabinet is fantastic in terms of its portability, and is great value. If you have bought the Orange Micro Terror Head, it's probably worth buying this just to have a really handy cab to grab-and-go for small gigs.
However, I would suggest changing the speaker if you want to get the best out of it. I swapped it out for a Celestion Eight 15, which was a fairly cheap upgrade but made all the difference. The stock speaker sounds quite small and boxy, but with a modest upgrade this cab can have the sound that its build quality deserves.
To summarise, this is a well built, solid and attractive cabinet, but, for me at least, the sound of the stock speaker just didn't quite meet my requirements. With a speaker upgrade though, this can become a really handy cabinet for small gigs.
3,5 stars
I know it is small cab and has 8" speaker only. But for me it is too boxy. I have 10" and 12" cabs too and this one suffers due to its size I think.
it is very micely looking combo with micro terror head, but I see the only one advantage - portability. or if you need to save a space. or if you love orange color :)
I like the possibility to make a stack with another one, have't tried that whether the overal sound will improve.
Orange PPC108
Bought this cab for the Orange Micro Terror and only used it with the little head. Together they form a very cute little half stack and the build quality is also good. As already mentioned by others, the sound cannot be compared to a bigger cab, but it deliveres in its class.
Sounds good for the price
I use this cabinet with my Orange Micro Terror, and I'm happy with how it sounds. It's really small, so it's perfect for me (as I'm working at sea, so I need my rig to be small). There is a surprising amount of bass coming out of this thing! Though I have to say the highs and mids are a bit muddy sometimes, but this could be due to poor settings on the amp. All in all, I do recommend getting this cab, but even more I'd recommend getting two which makes the sound a whole lot richer and fuller.
Pro's:
- very small
- gets LOUD
- well defined bass
Cons:
- it's a bit heavy
- mid and upper range could be better (but it's still great though!)
Good budget cab
Bought it together with Micro Terror - excellent for home practicing.
Nice for the price, and for recording
As in the title. This is not the best cab, but a great companion for a Orange Micro terror, and great if you want a more controllable, contained sound for home recording purposes. Also, keep in mind that even if you want another cab for your micro terror, this one is always worth having for when you are moving, travelling, or want to experiment with a more boxy sound. Which in the end is not too boxy anyways, and never in a bad way.
You can find better, but it's perfect if you have a small room
You can find better, the look is gorgeous and makes you happy when you look at it, but honestly, the sound is boxy. Which is what you might need in some recording situations to have something new.....well paired with the micro terror (for which it was made I suspect) but again, if you don't have any other amplifiers and this is your first cab, buy a bigger one. Other than that, pretty good for the price.
Loud
This is a loud speaker for its size. Youll be surprised with the sound of this speaker cabinet paired with Orange Micro Terror head. Great clean and dirty tones. This is a great for practice and in bedroom.
One angry little cabinet
I've always wanted an Orange amp just for the great looks but didn't want to spend like 1000€ to have one since the tone is not exactly what I want. But with this little box combined with the MicroTerror you can have it!
This smallish cabinet really do move some air, for practising at home, the volume is quite enough.
No unnecessary stuff on it, feels very, very well built and amazing looks, you can't ask for more.
Thanks to the MicroTerror stack I have the coolest computer speaker at work as well!
gotta have two
i bought this to have myself a mini micro terror full stack, im very happy with it and would recomend this if you have a small amp head, great sound to my ear
Great Orange-look-and-feel, but where is that Orange-sound?
The Orange PPC 108 is as tiny a guitar-box as you will find. If it wasn´t for it´s rich orange color and the nice "old-school" decals, no one would even care to take a look at it.
Problem is, that although it is a thing of beauty and built up to high Orange standards, including a wooden cabinet and solid edge-protectors, it´s sound leaves a bit to be desired - and therefore may not be looked at for it´s acoustic perfomance, I´m afraid...
Plugged into an Orange Micro Terror, which is a great amp, the PPC can go pretty loud, but the sound lacks lows and highs. Mids are plenty, but their definition is flat. Changing the settings on the amp won´t help a lot, as the PPC simply can´t produce the tonal range, that you would expect of the Micro Terror.
Of course, a tiny speaker put into a tiny cabinet will not produce a 4x12 sound. And no one is going to buy it to achieve that. But even if I take it for what it probably should be, a small and affordable speaker for practising at home, I was expecting a little bit more from my favourite amp-builders. If it just wasn´t for it´s sheer beauty... :)
PPC 108
The Orange PPC108 is a small cabinet, mainly designed to use with the Micro Terror amp. PPC 108 sounds pretty warm and especially with clean settings it sounds really good. It also delivers nice crunchy tone with more gain enabled, and for classic rock/hardrock this thing sounds good. But its size has its limitations. The sound becomes blurry when more gain enabled, and it doesn't sound good at all if you try to play metal. But with moderate gain and for classic rock it is a decent cabinet, and it's not very expensive. It also handles low-volume playing well, it sounds good without the need of using earplugs or disturbing your neighbours.
I've tested using two of these, and it sounded a bit better than using just one PPC108. It sounded more sturdy with two PPC108.
Finishing in this cab is good, and it looks pretty. Especially with the Micro Terror amp.
