Professional sound on a budget

Offers great compatibility both with sound card to cab systems and amp profilers like Kemper and a great sound output for guitar! Would not recommend for other instruments as it's meant to be used as a final stage for guitar!

Great power Amp for bass or guitar

I use this to run my Dingwall NG2 into a Line 6 Helix into a Orange OBC410 4x10 which is 600 Watts. Doesn't have a problem running it really loud. really happy with this unit!

Great 1u stereo power amp, used with my axe fx3. Didn't quite match upto the Matrix, but for the price a great amp.

I must recommend this amplifier

I use this to match my KEMPER, It only has 1U space. But it burst out with enough power to deal with all CABs, I output a signal from Kemper monitor without CAB simulation to 402.In this way, I can deal with the situation where all the venues have different AMPs, just one 412 CAB, no longer need to go into the AMP return to monitor my KEMPER sound. It's very functional, it has the usual presence, resonance, dual channel input and output, low cut, 400W 8Ω in bridge mode, etc. for a guitar power stage, and even a SPEAKON output, I think there is a chance to me Need to try to connect PA speakers directly, including some humanized protection measures, 115V/230V, soft start, overload protection, clipping indicator, this is the best power amplifier I have ever used

Palmer Mach 402 Guitar power amp

Palmer Mach 402 Guitar power amp :

as i am one old tube amp player , and i can say that i have multiple very good tube amps like 1963 Fender Black Face tremolux , 1973 Fender Deluxe Reverb , Marshall Plexi , and many others like Rivera , Mesa Boogie's Recto Verb ect. i really can say that this power amp connected with a serious préamp is one of the best amps i ever have played. It is especially made for good guitar préamps and the sound as well as the responce is excellent. Of course a huge factor for good sound is also to connect it to a superb Cab with superb speakers !!

Perfect budget unit.

So either was this or HB GPA.

I got this and what can I say. It`s a really great unit.

I use it with GSP1101 and 70/80 Blackstar cab. It works like magic. I mainly use Bridge mode with only volume without Lows and highs beacons of the cab. If you have let`s say a Marshall or Engl preamp then the Lows and Highs can be useful. If you have a unit like GPS then you just turn those off, because if you switch a lot of those preamp sims. You ruin the sound.

Quality is great. I use this for over a year and I didn't`t find any faulty on it. Sound is the same as the first day I got it out of the box. It has wide area of use with all features that are provided with this unit.I really like the auto stand by mode, I jump all around and some times I forget to turn it off so that's a + for me(can be turned off on the back).

Overall a great unit that will not let you down.

Great power amp for guitar modelers

Bought Palmer Macht 402 one to pair with my Axe FX-II so that I can play it through a real guitar cabinet. Works really great for my needs. The sound is very good and lots of volume if needed. It doesn't color the sound of the modeler like tube power amps do. There is also the capability of running it as stereo but I have only so far used it mono. But it is nice to know it has the ability to do so. Build quality seems good. Casing feels really sturdy. Bonus thing is it only takes up 1 rack space.

Good unit, but unreliable

The unit itself is fine. Neutral sound as you'd expect. Useful features and EQ, But it's unreliable in my experience. It'll just drop out on random moments and suddenly die on you.

At least that's what happened to me, so i can't recommend this unit.

Great piece of gear - hands down!

I bought this stereo amp to replace my all tube Peavey Classic 50/50 amp. The tube power amp is four times heavier (26.5 pounds - 12 kilos) and takes 2U spaces. Plus it needs re-tubing and occasional service as all tube amps do. I paired my Macht 402 with the Digitech GSP1101 rack processor which I have been using for about 10 years now. I was worried about two things: first that the 402 will not have enough volume and second that it wouldn't sound as good as Peavey. I was wrong :) I use two Carvin Legacy 2x12 cabs 8 Ohm each, with Celestion Vintage 30s, and the Macht 402 amp has plenty of power on tap even in stereo mode. It's definitely loud enough to play live with a loud drummer. As far as the sound goes it's as close to the Peavey as it gets: clear and worm, but punchy. The EQ controls are very effective and I was able to dial the sound that I was used to within minutes. The Macht 402 is loaded with features and very solidly built even though it's made in China like pretty much everything else these days :(

Perfect power amp!

Using that power amp for over a year. I am using it with pre amp JMP1 Marshall. Played classic rock gigs, pop gigs, funk and recently Motown and is all I need cause got so much sound versatility! It newer sound like velve but that doesn't mean it worse, is just different and I never experienced any technically problems like before with velve power amp 2:50 famous brand where fuse was blown so often that I always need to have spare with me. Did I mentioned that it is stereo? How cool is that!

Good flat response power amp for preamps like the Kemper, etc. The EQ is very handy. only con is there is no LED for the input level of the power amp, only the output level.

Great sounding power amp for little cost!

I use my Palmer Macht to power cabs for an Axe FX 2 and it does the job brilliantly. It's quite transparent sounding and has thus far sounded brilliant in every situation I've used it in, in different size venues and different setups. In terms of the features, it has everything I need within in my own setup to give me the versatility that I'd want from such a unit. It seems to be a sturdy piece of gear as it's been gigged a fair amount and moved around in a rack and I haven't had any issues with it yet.

My only criticism of it would be that some of the knobs on the front panel seem to be slightly skewed and out of line with where they should be, however this is a very, very minor thing which doesn't affect the usability of the unit at all and I have not found it to be an issue at all.

Overall, I would say that for the money and in this price range, this is one of the best choices you could make if you were looking to for something to power a similar set up.

Great Power amp

Grand power amp for using with jam up (app) or any interface. Have been only using it for about two weeks and have it paired with a 4x12 with v30 speakers and it sounds great for the the price you pay. The low and high feature on it is very useful. Quality wise it sturdy and with in a rack flight case not much will happen to it. Use it at rehearsals and in general practice.

Great Little Power Amp

Bought this to put in a 2U rack, along with my Digitech GSP1101, as a live back-up or my Kemper, just in case.

I use the Kemper with a Yamaha DXR10 powered monitor, but wanted the option of using it with a guitar cab (mine is the unpowered Kemper "toaster") and this new Palmer amp fitted the bill perfectly: small, light, powerful. Oh, and a great price!

It seems very well made - a solid feel and quality, notched controls. It's very light, which is important to me, and super-quiet in operation (the cooling fans are silent).

Sound-wise, it seems great - it works well with both the Kemper and the Digitech - with a pleasing warmth to the sound and a very useful 2-band EQ on each channel, to tailor the sound on-the-fly. I have gigged it and there is more than enough volume on tap for any backline requirement.

I particularly like the auto stand-by feature, too.

I don't think there's a better guitar-dedicated power amp at anything close to this price.

Very disappointed

I bought this amp in late 2015. It arrived, sounded great, seemed great. It's loaded with great input and output features. It seemed really solid and really well designed and constructed. I played it at home for hours on end without any problems. I played it at band practice as well, all good! Typically, it blew in it's first gig - January 2016. I'm sure many of the readers of this review, like me, are gigging musicians. You can't depend on equipment that fails at the first hurdle. Buy something else.
