Lenzner Gut D String 1322

The tension is perfect. Good give but not too slap like. The sound is nice. The sound is not quite as good as a gamut nylon wounds but the feel is better i think tension wise and its not as thick (still pretty thick). Don’t hesitate to get this string-its great. Cheaper than Gamut. I have a gamut lyon light wound g which goes well with it. The lyon g is tighter but i don’t mind the g being a bit tighter. If anyone wants that oscar pettiford sound then try this string with the lezner silver wound a (its thinner but great). A chorda or gamut g and then an evah slap E. your welcome aha.
Conrad Götz Pfitzner Gut String D

Well finished, looks quite fresh. No rough spots, very impressed. Bought the a and g as well, they look completely different, very dry and all three strings looked like they were from different manufacturers due to the finish and colour difference. Replacing a gamut Lyon, it's performed very well!
Pirastro Obligato D Double Bass 4/4-3/4

Often struggling with the balance between arco and pizzicato, I finally found that on my bass D and G Obligatos work fine with both. While A & E are somehow a little floppy, the upper strings give optimal arco response even on upper registers and when soloing or walkink in pizzicato they respond readily and with a rich tone. Nicer arco response than Spiros, different but equally good pizzicato sound.

I use this string for classical arco playing, in orchestra & personal practice. Great feel, a bit looser, in a gut-like direction, & more overtones than the traditional arco steel strings of the past we all know. it's also a bit brighter, in a good way, & I'm excited to see how it settles in & ages. On the con side, & as a fan of gut, I'd love to see a slightly thicker version, but keeping the tension & feel the same.
