Great Sound for a Great Price

This monitor offers you a very clean, great, and articulate sound for a reasonable price. V2 is more expensive and if you are low on budget, the predecessor is still a great deal. The design is also superb and if you are not a fan of blue, you can always change the front lid to black one.

Underrated studio monitors

Great detail, great bass, great sense of space! These monitors give a very accurate position of the sound source in space. When you close your eyes, you can imagine exactly where the musician is. You can even hear if they are higher or lower than you. Very accurately made. Expensive blue color. Interchangeable panels. Heavy. Stylish. I am very satisfied.

Premium speakers

The price is cheap. It can be compared with my previous Adam a7x. As soon as I open the sound, I like this pair of R65. The sound is slightly warm and straightforward. The high-frequency attenuation is - 1dB, and the sound is straighter. The high, medium and low-frequency sounds are very consistent with my hearing, and the most cost-effective pair of monitors!

Price vs quality is spot on

What you get for the money is an amazing monitor, that is well balanced, doesn't give you fatigue, has a good low end and the built quality is quite good. The features are only 4/5 because the adjustments can only be dialled in in pre-defined increments/decrements. Overall, coming from a Genelec monitor, I'm more than pleased and would go for it again, also given that I mostly produce electronic music.

Excellent balance, clarity and a great stereo image!

The sound surpassed any expectations I was having, the price is a steal and I am confident on the honest sound you get from these. If your mixes still have issues, rest assured it is not because of these monitors.

I was looking into buying some proper studio monitors in the 1000$ a pair range after owning some entry studio monitors such as rokit6 g3 and Adam F7. My first choice was to get a pair of Dynaudios lyd7 or Adam a7x's . I got the chance to listen at both monitors and was inclined towards the Adams. After getting used to ribbon tweeters it is pretty difficult to go back at the traditional dome ones. Looking into the discounted monitors I found the Presonus R65's. The price seemed very good but I was sceptical if they would be on the same level. Reading the review of the Presonus R65 on my go to site (audiofanzine) convinced me to give them a try.

After using them for 2 weeks I can confirm they are on par with the A7x's (the highs are just as good and the lows seem more balanced even though slightly less boosted). Excellent monitors overall, phenomenal transient response and a transparent sound.

Pros:

Very balanced frequency response

No audible cabinet resonance

Phenomenal highs

Tight low end and balanced mids

Good build and the choice of 2 colors front plate

Cons:

Slight hissing that is audible within 1 meter distance

The back of the monitors gets slightly warmer than normal
