Remo 20" Powerstroke 4 Clear Bass
Based on 3 reviews
I was wanting to remove some of the top end from my bass drum sound, as the beaters I was using were making it sound too toppy. Going from a powerstroke 3 to a powerstroke 4 has seemed to do the trick. It does feel slightly too thick, but it now has a great slammed door sound to it. I am using a front head with just a 20mm offset hole so still get a full drum resonant sound. This is about a halfway between a powerstroke 3 and a powerstroke Pro head in sound- the Pro was too dead for my liking. Experiment if you feel you want more depth and less top in the mix.
Aquarian 20" Super Kick II Clear
Based on 2 reviews
By far my best buy with regards to drums. What can I say? You?d have to hear it to believe it but one of the nicest sounding kick heads I?ve ever heard. It sounds punchy and aggressive when hit hard but smooth and sweet when hit soft. Y problems with resonance reduced considerably when I got this drumhead. The ?Floated Muffling System? helps keep it tame but without killing any frequencies. It?s hard to find anything disappointing about this product, definitely buying another once this one?s been spent (which after about five years still sounds and looks fantastic).
Evans 20" GMAD Clear Bass Drum
Based on 2 reviews
Over the past i've had to play in various gigs ranging from jazz gigs to hard rock gigs all within a couple of weeks. This bass drum skin with the outside damping system makes it much easier to quickly change the sound of the bass drum depending on the situation you are faced with. Works very well for jazz gigs with high tuning and no damping, and can pack a good punch when tuned very low and the thickest of the dampening rings is applied. The Gmad bass drum skin is also very durable and can withstand a good beating (recording with double pedal using plastic side of the beater). Would recommend for versatility. If you're only going to use for heavier music situation I would go for the Emad 2 (would get a bit more low end). On the other hand if jazz is your thing go for the Emad.
Remo 20" Ambassador Coated Classic
Based on 1 reviews
If You know the Remo Ambassador sound, there are no surprises here: You get exactly the same quality head, same sound, only different, retro Remo logo. What makes that head unique is that it is slightly larger in circumference to fit vintage bass drums like Gretsch, Slingerland which are prone to have "exact" shell diameter. (Don't mistake it with Pre- International Premier sizes!). Remo Classic head is slightly shallower than their normal Ambassador version. I tested it on my vintage Gretsch, it fits without need to use hammer. And that already should tell you a lot. Finally you can tune your vintage bass drum in full range. Recommended
Aquarian 20" Regulator Black Bass Drum

I have tried so many bass drum reso heads, and this one for me is the best. First because I don't have to stuff the bass with a pillow touching both heads anymore. I only muffle the batter head with a little pillow like muffling, which does not touch the reso head. This creates just enough of everything I need to here from my bass drum. The low end, mid range and hi frequencies. Also it has a perfect hole for microphone and for the bass drum to breathe. It can also be tuned high or low, it will give you what you are looking for. I am using this head along with a clear PS3 on a 20 inch Pearl Session Birch Bass Drum. Everybody asks about the kick drum sound, in studio and live.
Evans 20" E-Mad Reso Bass Drum BK

I have changed all of my kick drums over to this resonant head from Evans. I am predominantly a Remo user, but I have to say I would recommend the Evans emad to any professional drummer. I don't think there is a better kick resonant/front head available by any of the other manufacturers. The tonal clarity and response is excellent, and the head itself is robust and tough enough to withstand life on the road. I particularly like the protective/reinforcement ring around the microphone sound hole. There's no rattle or buzz, just a pure response. I use it with a Remo coated powerstoke 4 on the batter side and it makes a seriously effective partnership! Great drum head!
Remo 20" Fiberskyn 3 Medium (FA)
Based on 4 reviews
Remo 20" Fiberskyn Medium (Ambassador) is a must have head if you want to get maximum tone out of your 16-20" bass drum. Although some people like to use two of them on their bass drums, I use Coated Ambassador as the batter head and Fyberskyn on front. Bought this drum head as an experiment and I was pleasantly surprised with a sound of my kick after installing this skin! A lot of warmth and very controlled overtones. Great head for using on a bop kits (highly tuned bass drum with no muffling inside). All in all this is really awesome drum head with great look and even better sound quality. Definitely would recommend to every jazz drummer out there
