Remo 22" Powerstroke 3 Coated Bass

Remo 22

Based on 10 reviews

This is the best bass drum head on the market, and it is slightly warmer than the clear powerstroke 3, it is durable, gives a true sound from the bass drum, and feels thick enough to get a feeling from the pedal. It doesn't have a ton of additional dampening on the head, so you are able to customise your bass drum sound in other ways that you see fit, whereas some heads will do it all for you, leaving you with no say in the matter. This is best starting point, best head if you session and play more than one genre.

Remo 22" Powersonic Bass Clear

Remo 22

Based on 7 reviews

What can justify spending more on this batter head than the other, typical bass drum batter heads that Remo sell? In my opinion, this is answered by the fact that this head is extremely well made, balanced and gives an awesome sound. It has two films, so it's like an emperor head, giving it durability should you not wish to add the falam slam pad that comes with it. The foam gets rid of unwanted overtones nicely and the clip-on pad is a nice touch. Some people have said that the pad sometimes comes loose, but I have been playing on multiple kits with multiple Powersonic heads for a long time, and not once has it come loose. Perhaps it was an older issue? Whilst you might not be able to get a light, boomy, split sound of a tuned-tight jazz bass drum, this head lends itself well to rock,...

Remo 22" Emperor Clear Bass Drum

I am so happy to have gone through with purchasing this head! I have been looking for an open and deep pound from my kickdrum and the past heads I put on it just left me with a feeling of "something is missing". Then I spent nights looking around here on amazon and reading reviews about such and such. And the reviews I found for this one spoke of it sounding like a canon and that is exactly what it sounds like! The dynamics provided with this head are so much fun to play with and I can tell it is going to last me a long time.

Evans BD22RSW 22" Reso Head EQ3

Evans BD22RSW 22

Based on 4 reviews

The Evans EQ3 Reso Heads are the perfect match for the EQ3 kick side. There are cheaper heads out there, but trust me, it is worth the extra money to get a fantastic head that will last for years. Don't waste your money buying cheaper heads and then spending your life trying to muffle them with blankets and gaffa tape. This is a great head that will help bring your kick to life in an acoustic setting. The sound port helps it to breath plus provides the perfect access for mic placement. You won't be disappointed

Evans 22" Calftone Bass Drum

Evans 22

Based on 3 reviews

Drummer came in for a session with this on and his kick drum sounded like a canon, so I immediately had to go out and get our drummer one. It's thicker so at a higher tension than a standard head its at a lower pitch so it rings very nicely and doesn't get too nasal or midrange-y but still has a lot of character. If you're into modern kick drum sounds but always found yours a bit lifeless/lacking in character this would be a good option to consider. Not to mention it looks cool and is also not real calfskin, so it's vegan. How's about that?

Aquarian 22" Response 2 Clear Bass Drum

Aquarian 22

Based on 2 reviews

I have never be a fan of pre-muffled drum-heads. I find them "restricted". Of course, i don't think that pre-muffled drum heads are bad choice, i just prefer "clean" drumhead, without any muffling or something like that. Let me to do muffling :) I am a fan of Aquarian drumheads in general. but never try Response 2 on kick drum. Sound is exactly what i expected to be. Open, resonant, great attack and amazing sound. If you know how to tweak bass drum, you will have no problem to do it with no pre-muffled drum-head.

Remo 22" P3 Colortone Reso Red

Remo 22

Based on 2 reviews

I bought this head as part of a project to change all the heads on my White Natal Arcadia kit toRemo Colortone Red at the same time as I changed my cymbals to Paiste Colorsound Red. It looks great and I have mounted some lights inside the drum to take advatage of it's see through quality. The only slightly negative aspect of the head is that I wanted to remove the Remo Logo before I applied vinyl graphics of my band logo. I found I couldnt do this as it appears the logo is not printed on top of the head but underneath the surface. I needed to have the port hole in the centre at the bottom, so had to turn the head accordigingly so as well as my Band logo the Remo log does appear, but at an angle on the left hand side. To be honest I dont think anyone notices this appart from me. I also...

Evans EQ4 Clear 22" Bass Drum Head

Evans EQ4 Clear 22

This is the perfect head for metal and rock drumming in my opinion. A good firm double ply head with internal muffling ring that is solid enough to give a good rebound while at the same time having a very lose tuning to get that fat low end. Stick a mic inside (preferably a Audix D6) and you are good to go! Normally includes a falam patch which is needed if you play with plastic beater on your pedal (otherwise the head will not last very long)... I usually combine this with a Powerstroke 3 front head with a 3" hole.

Evans 22" EMAD Heavyweight Bass Drum

Evans 22

Based on 21 reviews

When I bought my second hand kit it came with Evens EQ3 fitted on the kick drum and had a massive sound even though the drum head looked pretty battered from the previous owner. At least the guys i sometimes play with kept saying that they feel my kicks in their chests (in a small room and no amplification on the drums). Then i noticed a rip in the outer ply underneath the patch where the beater hits and so it was time for a new one. For the reason to get one that lasts me as long as possible i went for the Evans EMAD Heavyweight risking some loss of sound in exchange of punch. After fitting the the new head the tuning was easy. I went for the lowest possible pitch without wrinkles as it suits most of the music i like playing (Rock) and used the tinner of the two dampening rings it comes...

Evans 22" EQ3 Resonant Bass Drum BK

I have used this head in conjunction with an Aquarian Super Kick II on the batter side. My main use is recording, so the sound has to be right at the source - and this reso head really delivers in that area. After changing the head, I noticed that the sound of the bass drum was much more defined than before. So I was able to take out some of the damping I had used previously. Now by "defined" I mean that the sound is deep, but not boomy. The damping I had put in the shell (several blankets) had been necessary because I always got too much sustain and boominess out of the bassdrum. With this head, these problems are gone. I just keep one blanket in there lightly touching the batter had to make it more snappy. I also noticed that my recordings are now clearer of unwanted...
