Remo 14" Ambassador Snare Reso Reviews
Remo Reso
I bought two of these, for both of my snare drums. One drum is a Sonor Bop snare, which had the original cheap reso head supplied with the kit, and the other is an old Tama which had a worn out head. I thought it was probably going to be a waste of time, as both drums functioned ok. The top heads were fine. But, adding new reso heads made a big difference to the sound. Louder and clearer in both cases. I really like Remo stuff. It always looks well made and sounds good. These reso heads were no exception. Recommended.
14" Remo Ambassador Snare Reso Head
REMO are always the number one choice for me when recording or playing live. The Ambassador series offers one of the brightest tones available with a long sustain depending on how you tune your drums. The punch you get on the snare with this clear rest underneath is amazing. Recommend 100%
Wonderful
Classic snare reso head that is my 'go to' when re skinning my snare. Tickles my strainer just right when I'm playing the batter. Don't think I'll be changing reso heads any time soon.
What's not to love!
These Remo Ambassador heads are by far my favourite for my snare drum, not to mention al the other drums on my kit.
The Remo Ambassador snare head, in my opinion allows you to get that perfect snare sound, whatever that may be for you.
These heads can be tuned really tight to give that loud, fantastic snap sound or also tuned lower to give a full fat sounding snare. There really is no limitations to the sounds this head can give.
It provides a nice ring to the drum, but also does not lack that essential muffling.
These heads are used by so many fantastic drummers, Stewart Copland and Dave Weckl are just two that come to mind.
Since using this snare head on my drums I have never questioned its quality or sound, and I would recommend them to anyone.
Remo 14" Ambassador Snare Reso
One of the best Reso heads out there gives a bright crisp snare sound and a vibrant fell. If tuned up right it will go with any style of music. Highly Recommended.
Can't go wrong.
I love these heads on my snare drum resonant side.
They are quite thin which allows you to get a great response from the snare wires.
I've been using these for years with no problems at all.
A great head to let your snare drum sing !!!
A head above the rest...
Probably the best resonant head you can get out there. Perfect for any snare to bring out the crisp crack of anything you put it on. Versatile and durable - will fulfil any requirements you need it to.
Great sound, great build.
I bought this a few months ago and while I don't know if I noticed a huge improvement over the stock resonant head, it seems like the quality is great and will be able to last a long time. I don't imagine I would go about purchasing any other head other than this for my snare resonant side in the future.
The classic snare-side head - never bettered!
I bought a new snare drum, and stock heads are never great, so I immediately ordered this head. Installation was as simple as changing any other drum head, and once tuned up (taking care to keep everything nice and even) the drum sounded much more responsive and sensitive than with the stock head. I'd recommend this for anyone wanting to add a little more life to their snare drum, particularly if you've not changed the head for more than a year or two.
Classic head at great price
This Remo 14" Ambassador snare drum head is a great all rounder head. I have a few snares and this head is ideal for a range of applications. It helps make the metal shell drums have a good ring to them, whilst fitting it to a wood shell snare aids in bringing out the warm tones.
The white coating on these heads is very good - if using brushes you get a nice swish sound, even after a good few gigs. The coating also remains when playing with sticks. Although I am not a heavy player, I play regularly and have had no problem with the coating chipping off.
Overall, a great drum head at a great price. Thanks Remo!
A classic snare Reso
This is a great snare reso, you just put it on and don't think about it again. Works for all styles and snares. It's my go to reso for all my snares.
If you want a bright snare sound, this is the one to choose
People will tell you which is 'best' out of Remo, Evans or Aquarian, but don't believe any of them. They are all good- just choose the one which is best for your ears. Basically, the Remo coated ambassador is the brightest sounding one of them. The Evans sounds darker and the Aquarian one darker still. The Remo one has powder coating which starts to chip off almost immediately, and could be annoying. The Evans ones last longer, and the Aquarian coated heads are bulletproof- they last for ever. However, what I realised is that I don't mind the chipping because I much prefer the brighter remo sound. By the time loads of the coating has chipped off it is time to change the head anyway because it has started to stretch slightly in the middle.
If you are a hard hitter, and don't want a darker snare sound, go for the Remo CS coated head- it is basically one of these with a black spot stuck underneath which stops the stretching and more than doubled the life I got from a head when I was in my 'rock' phase, with only a marginal difference if feel.
I love these heads, and I can't imagine ever changing to another one having experimented with most of the available options.
Great drum skin
If asked by bands I record in my studio to recomend drum skins the one thing I will always say is to use these skins on your snare. I have had fantastic results recording snares with this skin especialy for hard rock music.
Hated it!
Not sure what they use to coat these skins but it really messes up the rest of the kit & cymbals with horrible white marks! Sound wise it's ok easy to tune up.
The standard choice
The standard choice for snare-side resonant heads. I often use the Evans Hazy 300 as well, and have yet to find a major difference in sound character between the two. In terms of physical construction maybe the Evans is very slightly nicer, but I happily use them both.
The industry standard
This head is the standard head for snare side of the snare drum, and if you want the "normal" sound of a snare drum - this is the head for you! Keep in mind to always tension the 4 tension rods around the snare bed a little looser than the rest to reduce snare noice.
Snare reso
Great quality as you would expect. Quite a snappy reso. A bit thinner than i am used to, but works great. Gives great tone and snap. Fits like a dream and works great. Fantastic
Awesome Resonant Head
I love It!!! 3-mil Mylar give a good durability, great resonant and open, bright sound.
Excellent drum response. I always use it. This drumheads are the standard of the industry for live and studio situations. Highly recommended.

Really liked this reso head on my snare drum. It works perfectly well on my snare drum and I am still using it. Well recommended.
