Great Sounding and Durable Head

Double ply coated heads, these sound fantastic and provide a great tone. Ideal for gigging drummers or studio use, they record well and last for ages with heavy use. If you're dampening your drums to cut out overtones, these heads are worth a try.

Fat, warm and crispy tones

Like all Remo heads in my experience, it needs a couple of days to settle in. I cranked it as tight as I could and left it, and after that managed to get the exact sound I wanted. If durability, warmth, tone and decent attack are the sound you're looking for, I highly recommend the coated Emperor.

deep!!

very deep sound, and very much what I hoped for

Produces quite a grainy sound which might be good for a jazz setting, but for anything else needing a bit more punch and clarity a clear skin would be best.

Really love the emperor coated batter heads. I use these on all my toms (10, 12, and 16)

Pros:

Has that dry rock sound with good but controlled resonance

The coating is durable

Cons:

I'm using 3 of these on my toms and one came with a small aesthetical defect on the coating, the QC is not the greatest.

Great on floor tom

Sounds good. Coated head adds a more pleasing roundness to the tone. High quality from Remo as you can expect.

Get an ambassador on your reso head and you can't go wrong.

My favourite dumhead!

I used to use coated emperors for pretty much everything! But I've come to accept that they just aren't suitable for live playing. They don't have the same durability and reliability of tuning as some of the competitor's products, particularly in the Evans line. So they have been replaced as my live head of choice for most applications. Having said that though, they are still my favourite drumhead, particularly for jazz and swing. Yes, they are double ply heads and are a little bit heavier than most people like to use for jazz playing. But I love the tonal qualities of these heads, both on snare, kick and toms. They have a really warm and dark tone with lovely sustain and great attack for accents. Really beautiful drumhead. I don't use them live any more, but I won't use anything else in the studio!

Fantastic skin.

This is a very good sounding and durable drum skin. I would recamend this to most drummers who come to record in my studio as I always seem to get good results with it especially for metal and heavy rock.

Good heads!

An industry standard, I bought these for my toms to do some recording with my band, and to replace some worn Evans Genera G2 Clear heads.

These Remo's are beautiful, and the fact that their sound takes me back to when I was young and started drumming, is probably testament to Remos obvious consistency and control over the product quality through the years!

Lovely warm, dusty sound from the coating, and they record great.

This 16" can perform well at really low tunings

Classic remo sound!

I am big Benny Greb fan, and when i wanted to get the most similar sound to he's floor tom sound, i found that this is the way i need to go. Combined with Remo Ambassador on resonate side, you can get perfect floor tom sound (huge attack and big sustain). No wonder why most of known drummers use this skin.
