Revv G3 Distortion Reviews
King of distortion pedals!
very good solid construction! you can play anything thanks to the choice of blue, standart or red! very satisfied :)
6-star product. Believe me
This is probably the kind of pedal that will make you not look back at any piece of gear you had before. Just one day using this pedal and no more quest for perfect and motivating tones that I have been looking for so long.
Getting into the real thing:
Pros:
This pedal is easy to tweak. So straight forward that you will not spend more than a few seconds to find the first pleasant setting. All the knobs are really responsive. There is also a small 3-way switch in the middle which will add tons of gain to your distortion.
The box is sturdy metallic purple-painted and surprisingly lightweight. Easily fittable to a pedalboard. No nightmares to attach some velcro to its bottom.
Cons:
I technically have none. Maybe the boutique product price?
Not really because every cent paid on this definitely is reflected back in satisfaction. If you are on a budget there are other good options but if you have the money this is a no-brainer.
Pro: By far this pedal have the most rich sound regarding a distortion pedal for metal style.
Cons: At least in my case, I needed a good Noise Gate to reduce the noise and hum, I use one from TT Electronics and works fine together.
Powerful and easy to use
A very simple pedal for high gain distortion, very tight and clean but still so aggressive. For everyone who plays from rock to death metal
Powerful and clear sound
This is certainly one the best distortion pedals I have. Very powerful sound and incredible clarity which really stands out practically on any setting. Usually there is a compromise between a really thick/powerful sound and clarity. Not with this pedal. Very nice sound and I highly recommend this one. All the hype I read was true about this pedal.
Good
Use it with a good amp , otherwise it'll not work fine.
Best metal pedal i've ever had.
Outstanding pedal, its so responsive to pick attack like an amp and has an impressive thick tone. It doesn't lost in mix because has a great eq for every situation. Has looooots of gain. I use it for my numetal cover band (2000s). Best piece of gear that i bought in 2019
THE distortion
Less is more, and in this case with one pedal you got it all. You can cover rock to death metal with this baby. The sound is awesome, it feels like you're playing thru tubes and it sounds like it. Flawless victory for REVV.
Expensive? Yes! Good? LEGENDARY!
I got this pedal 4 months ago,
it comes in with nice packaging , some guidelines and sticker.
Looks gorgeous, high quality and well built. Outside is made out of steel
and coated with purple shiny paint. Knobs are solid, so is the switch.
When you plug your guitar in that little wonder, prepare for blast off. I combined this pedal with KATANA 50 amp and my custom patch, and discovered new dimension of sound.
I am hard chugga chugga fan and adore good chugging crunchy sounds, full of crisp and fatness. Despite all this sound is still clean and notes of chords shine through.
I agree, pedal is not cheap...
But, do i regret it?
NOPE!
It is hands down my favourite guitar related purchase in 2018 and i bought decent amount of things that year.
(Also, this pedal creates some hum, when activated, if you are really sensitive, use noise gate, otherwise at the moment, that you start playing, hum cant be heard,it s only heard during guitar inactivity)
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WONDER to anyone who likes to metal it up full way, and even if not, it still delivers- rock,punk,metal..whatever floats your boat!
The Revv G3 does exactly what was built for: It turns your amp into a heavy distortion powerhouse. It responds incredibly well to different dynamics, similar to a tube amp and the distortion type sounds almost like a subtle clean channel on top of a distortion channel just to give that extra definition. I found it similar to Devin Townsend rhythm tones (with gain on 12o'clock and switch on the blue mode).
I still haven't explored much about the red/blue switch differences, I just feel that red mode has a slight boost on high frequencies. The EQ knobs are really responsive, very effective way to be able to shape the sound you are looking for.
The only negative I have so far is about the gain as I wish it would go a bit lower for some more flexibility for rock distortions but this is a high gain pedal after all.
Overall this pedal sounds like a Beast! It makes my guitar sound huge and full of power. I'm very impressed at how unique it sounds and I'm happy that it doesn't sound like "classic" distortion but instead it has a more articulate and clear distortion, which is exactly what I was looking for. It has however a very powerful distortion with lots of low end
I recommend you to try the Revv G3 as I haven't heard a pedal like this before, it's really really good.
