Nice mic
Got this to try instead of the ubiquitous SM58. I like the tone and character and gives my vocals a little something different.
great mic
This microphone for my voice is the best. It needs more gain but has excellent quality and the sound is velvety. I highly recommend it!!!!
Excelend sound reproduction
Sturdy, great sound and value
Great speech microphone
After numerous A-B testing against other well-known brands, I discovered that Rode's M1 is especially good for speech and voice-overs. I was flabbergasted that it was so great. You get a low noise-floor with this Rode and that's what they're good at. The M1 perhaps might not have the presence that some other vocal mics enjoy but it will depend on the register of your voice. Definitely worth a shot at this price point.
Absolute perfect for the price
Compare to other dynamic microphones at the same price the M1 have better response and you are feeling closer the voice and a crystal sound. No chromatics ,straight microphone at vocals.
As good as
an SM 58 this mic. It's a Rode, they make quality stuff.....it's heavy...sturdy and, till now, sounds very good when i used it for a video comment. Guess it's no problem for singing as wel because that's what they are designed for...and it's cheaper than the SM 58. Good buy!
Good live mic
This is a great alternative to the venerable sm58 it has slightly different sound character to the sm58 but that is just good, not every singer sounds they same either? So if someone doesn't sound right with an sm58 you can try this instead.
works great
in the church i attend we were having problems with mics suiting our lead male vocalists. we tried many different mics including the well known industry standard mics. after reading up on this mic i thought i would give it a go. the Rode M1 has worked a dream for what we need. its replicates the vocals well, has great feedback rejection and it is built well. and the price is competitive too.
Awesome price/quality match
Used it for singing and miking a cajon. It did a good job in both cases.
As I used it for relatively quieter shows, I can't tell how it would behave on a rock concert or something like that, but for shows in bars and smaller venues I know it's a good choice.
All in all if you are a working musician that plays mostly in bars and venues, you won't go wrong buying this mic, wheather you use it for your singing or miking an amp or drums.
Perfect mic for the beginner
First off: I'm not a mic-specialist. But for me as a beginner on the mic, this is a really beautiful option with a fairly decent price tag. Next, I should also state that I use this mic pretty often for beatboxing (resp. live looping) and not as a frontman of any band. So this review concentrates on singing and producing beats and sounds with a looping machine.
I don't have any alternatives to compare, but for me the mic seems to be pretty heavy. In the beginning, this might be somewhat disturbing, but on the other hand, it also gives the mic a certain value (quality-wise).
Concerning the sound, I can't complain too much, it certainly does its job, but there will also be better option on the market. So for me this is a good mic to start singing or if you have a lower budget and desperately need a mic. It features a reasonable sound and a good quality and the cost-benefit-ratio is ok - at least for me as a beginner.
