For Anyone Interested in Recording 360º (2π) Sound

This Soundfield ambisonic microphone from Røde is a lovely thing, beautifully engineered and aesthetically pleasing. Of course, this concept of 360º reality sound is misleading as it uses a 2-dimensional measure in a 3-dimensional space. Essentially, this microphone records directional sound from all surrounding sources and encodes the spatial direction (think vectors). On playback with the right configuration of speakers, this gives a truly immersive aural experience. This is a superlative product – strongly recommended.
