High quality, slight learning curve

Feels and works wonderfully - the integrated recording and production features take a while to get the hang of, especially when you intend to do further editing and production, as well as optimizing the profiles for each mic you are using. Features like bluetooth and USB connections to other devices work very smoothly, and control over channels, volumes, master output and individual headphone outpouts are very simple and easy to use.

I highly recommend

One device, multiple uses. Recording podcasts has never been easier

Must have od every podcaster

I invite up to three guests and it's perfect. Works without any DAW but I connect it with Reaper and each channell is recorded separately. I do live and even use it for Zoom videocalls. Like a small broadcast studio at home.

Excellent build quality with premium feel, but has major workflow flaws

Good build quality. Premium feel and looks.

Limited input and outputs frustrate your workflow.

The pres arn't done have enough clean gain and if they had combi XLR/Line in for a decent pre amp would be much better and more flexible. Monitor outs are very noisy.

Micro SD a pain, should be usb or SD.

No talkback feature and screen is placed to high so you always have to look over the top of the console.

Rode firmware updates are good.

Rodecaster Pro

Great device as an alternative to GO XLR . As it doesn’t rely on software on a computer to run.

Absolutely love the rodecaster since having it. Love the fact it has usb loopback so I can record my computer sound and control volume.

I am using this in my gaming setup to control my sm7b microphone, and headphones and speakers. This device is also great if your a lazy gamer, and you don’t have to take off your headphones to answer the phone , simply when you get a phone call , put the Bluetooth fader up and you can use your XLR microphone and headphones to use your phone

Useful device that generally is pretty good...

I bought this for streaming on YT and as a newcomer to that aspect initially the device seemed not to offer much other than what is basically a simple mixer.

But of course that's far from the truth. Once you get a bit more familiar with it, the advantages of those jingle buttons whether you use the preloaded stuff or create your own adds an air of professionalism to the show... and the hooking up of a cell phone for incoming calls is really cool.

I also bought a Rode microphone but was a little disappointed with the volume levels - even though the Podcaster is a Rode product too... and a bit noisy to get decent output. Ultimately to fix that I bought one of those Clark-Technic mic boosters to fix the levels of that - and frankly it was surprising that I had to do that... especially as both devices were seemingly designed to work with each other - bear that in mind.

I like to see the software upgrades from time to time and that's useful as they often add extra features... and I also liked the MicroSD card recording too for over dubbing if necessary in production later.

If you consider the Podcaster overall and its features against any competition then this unit wins for most of the comparable other devices out there... so I went with the leader in this price range... the Podcaster.

Recommended.

Rodecaster pro

I was in need of a simple solution to record a community radio show. Key features needed to be great sound quality and very simple to use.

I can say that the RCP has exceeded my expectations. It's a brilliant bit of kit, robust and transportable. It interacts well with my computer and transfer of great quality audio files is straightforward. I can't find anything else on the market that does the job as well, for the price point it is good value and even looks good with cable management at the rear.

A MUST HAVE FOR BROADCASTERS.

I HAVE BEEN USING THIS UNIQUE DEVICE FOR BROADCASTING MY RADIO SHOWS AND I CANNOT RATE IT HIGHLY ENOUGH.

IT HAS EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVER NEED FOR YOU TO PRODUCE A PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION.

THE SIMPLICITY OF ITS USE IS KEY HERE AND I HAVE WORKED WITH SYSTEMS FAR MORE EXPENSIVE AND I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT THE RODECASTER PRO IS ON A PAR IF NOT BETTER THAN MOST OF THE OTHERS.

Advanced feautures and easy to use

Easy to get started and all the feautres you can ask for at this price points. Even though I haven't you can produce entire podcasts during the recording without post production thanks to the diverse inputs and sounds pads.

Good all in one solution

This is a good all in one solution for podcasting or live streaming.

It's very easy to set up and get going.

Positives (for me):

- good mixer

- feels well made

- simple to use

- Rode keep adding features!

Negatives (for me):

- the effects (compressor, noise gate, etc) added a lot of noise

- the headphone output wasn't very good

My use case was connecting an SM7B which is hard to drive, sound was clear without the effects, but once I turned them on there was a lot of aliasing.

I tried it with IEMs (Grado GR10e) and there was way too much noise. I switched to my Beyerdynamic DT 1990s and it felt like there wasn't enough power to drive them properly.

I don't think this would be a huge issue just for podcasting and streaming through unless you are focussed on music (which I am)

fantastic

love the rødecaster pro. saves me hours when creating a podcast being able to do everything in real time.

only cons I can think of is that it would be cool to have a clock on the screen to see the time. and being able to use bluetooth headsets. but goess that will come at some point in a fw update.

Good for beginners and professionals

My wife and I use the rodecaster pro in podcasting and making audio books. Even without initial configurations everything is so robust and easy to use that you can run the device right away.

There are valuable tipps in youtube which I also recommend them.

pros:

- easy to use

- clear sound

- handy effects and reconfigurable pads very useful for podcasting

- really good in phone calls if you would like to have guests live in your podcasts.

- external devices on Bluetooth, TRRS, and USB

cons:

- The outgoing sound in connection on Bluetooth has a lot of distortions. The person on the other side of the line receives a relatively bad quality sound. I really tried every possible configuration but no success. The TRRS and USB does not have the problem. I think this should be a rather a software problem than a hardware problem.

In the end, I really suggest it to those who produce podcasts or those who want to make audio books.

Best podcast tool on the market

I am very pleased with the Rodecaster. It is the best tool on the market for podcasting. It is a perfect production studio, one stop shop plug and play solution. You can prerecord your transitions and record or stream live podcast with ease.

The best piece of audio equipment i've every invested in.

Ok lets discuss how amazing this piece of audio equipment is considering i've come in at this time to buy something that way essentially released over 2yrs ago. With very useful updates along that period of time has made it an absolute pleasure to use. If you got £500 for an audio output or general all-round equipment then this will not do you wrong. It has a plethora of settings & the sound pads are fun to use plus are customisable to whatever audio you associate with a pad. So since i work in Radio, i can customise the pads for idents rather than using up a cart in Virtual DJ so it gives me more room to work with music to plan ahead in a show.

If you're in Radio like i am & running an online Radio station but if you're in small scale FM Radio station, then this still applies as well - you will not regret it and your presenters will love you because of how easy it is to use. I cannot stress that enough. Rode have done a fantastic job & i cannot wait for more useful updates that will unlock more potential out of the Rodecaster Pro.

If i was to give a Con for this then i'd be struggling to even name one. My personal & first-time experience with something like this has made me wonder why i didn't buy it sooner instead of buying a Behringer Mixer over a year ago which is now sitting around waiting to be sold off!

Rode won't release another one of these Rodecasters anytime soon within the next year or whatever, so i highly recommend you get this now, especially with it being at Firmware 2.1 that has added more useful & granular control on what sort of output you want for every individual channel or the whole output of it.

Simply the best

I was looking for a great audio mixer / podcasting / live streaming added to a complex setup. I was doing weeks maybe months of research, youtube videos, blogs, reviews, and researching a bunch of audio mixer that had to fulfil my long checklist requests.

So shortly, I had a lot of needs / requests on my checklist that it had to be fulfilled, and the Rodecaster Pro indeed fulfils perfect all my needs and into my whole workflow. It's an amazing audio mixer, great quality, robust, easy to use, so simple, but offering so many things perfect for my Live streaming fitness productions.

And because it has a great software that constantly get updates with new features, i am waiting now for more audio processing features :) without having to buy another hardware tool.

Severely lacking

This product is aimed squarely at the prosumer market, bundling in things that laymen think they'll need (such as SFX buttons) and neglecting the things they will actually need such as an ASIO driver or a second pair of outputs. The four headphone outputs all take the same main L+R signal as the master - they just work as a 4-ch headphone amp.

Instead of writing and maintaining a driver for this interface, Rode opted to simply direct users to ASIO4ALL, which falls many miles short of what I would expect from a company with an otherwise excellent product lineup.

Great sound but quality issues

For the price it could be a little better built. After 6 weeks I've had to send back for repair because the SD card slot broke. Super annoying but other than that a great product
