Great sound and features but...

The microphone is great but after some months of use, the main switch (plastic) broke. I am living in a country without any representative from Rode microphones and I have not managed yet to get it fixed. The main switch is in charge of the off/on-0db/on-+20db.

I have three other Rode microphones and it is the first time that it happens something like that with the quality of the product.

If it would not be for the quality issue, the microphone is a great piece of machinery, that captures stereophonic sound in good detail for its price tag.

totally satisfied

I bought tis mic to use it with my dslr (nikon d5100) for live recordings, youtube vids, and amateur cinematography.

Overall I'm really satisfied. Especially with the +20db feature which allows me to lower the in-built mic sensitivity.

In terms of sound quality I 'd say it gets 8/10 easily.I'd like a bit more definition but for the price, it's really good.

The Rycote shock mount works well, but feels a bit too sensitive,as does the mini jack wire.

But it is problem-free for now.

I recommend this product,as it is superior among it's rivals in this price range.

Quality audio with minimal setup

The microphone is light, easy to mount on the hotshoe of a camera, and convenient to use during transport or while recording. It is well-built with an integrated shock mount, but be careful when plugging in and unplugging the built-in cable, which cannot be replaced separately.

Sound quality is excellent in the sense that you will get rich, crisp stereo sound with ample gain. The optional hairy windscreen will shut out any unwanted wind noise when it is mounted on top of the integrated foam windscreen. The microphone is shaped so that it does not interfere with the camera in any way. The microphone has no output for monitoring, so if your camera does not have that either, be sure to set audio levels correctly and to power on the microphone in advance.

I will be using this microphone in situations where high audio quality is a priority and where I do not wish to use an external audio recorder.
