Roland TM-2 Trigger Module Reviews
Love it
Iâve been trying this module first at my drum teacher and was very impressed with it. Since he used on triggers he could do some fun stuff and so I bought this one to give my Dm10 a break for a couple of years. Iâm still using the TM-2 every gig and rehearsal and still very happy. I love that you can put some of your own samples in it while using a 32gb sd-card. If youâre wondering if it can use a bigger sd-card: the answer is no. There are some videos online how to set it up properly so I would recommend to watch those if you donât know how to set it up
Very good module
Present sounds are alright, but to truly unleash its power it is better to experiment with your own sounds. Paired with an SPD module, you could have a great kick/sn trigger set separated so it's better to mix live, plus the 2 stereo trig-ins and 9 pads of the SPD. Lots of possibilities at a more affordable price than any TD-50 on the market these days.
Does a great job
Can handle up to 4 separate triggers. By itself it is almost a drum set. No wonder this product is so popular among drummers. Everything is perfect. The only thing that would be nice is to have some dedicated controls for EQ.
Amazing product!!!
This is a must for every drummer!! This module has a lot of pros -
it is Small and it can fit it everywhere, the company has new updates for the module with new sounds, you can insert your own sound with an Sd card pretty easy, also has a lot of youtube videos that will help you if you have a problem!
Price-to-quality ration 5 stars
I've got two of these to serve me. Once you get to know the menu and all the setting possibilities, it's like heaven. If you don't find the sound you're looking for you can Easily import it via SD card
Fantastic, buy this now!
A must have for any drummer who wants a consistent sound in a small club or bar. Engineers will love you and you may get a free drink, so it eventually pay for itself.
Good but could be better
While this module is highly recommended by many people and in use by many renowned drummers, it has two significant downsides I wish I knew before buying it.
Even though it is a powered unit, the output channels are not balanced. Since my kick trigger signal goes directly into a stage box to FoH I need a DI Box to make the signal transmittable over such a long distance.
Furthermore, the output volume is way below what I would expect from a line leve signal, which is what I expect from a powered module. But alass this can be fixed by adding lots of gain in the mixing consoles mic preamp.
So since both issues are easily fixed, it gets a good rating. But I just don't get why roland would save money by ommiting a propper balanced line out channel.
Perfect trigger module!
This is the perfect solution for kick trigger!
Roland tm2
I use the Roland TM2 on both my accoustic drumkits (My band kit & my big home kit) to trigger the bassdrum(s)
Its a very light & compact module so easy to switch from kit to kit and with the holder that comes in the package its very easy to attach the tm2 with a multiclamp to any cymbal stand or hihat stand.
Best module on the market
This is just the best trigger module on the market. I have been using this for a long time before finally buying my own. It's simply the best. Light and small, you trigger what You need from 2 up to 4 channels. I'm using my own kick sound, and I also have my own snare sound, everything recorded in a professional studio, even though I'm triggering only the kick for now. Couldn't be happier!
Would be ideal if it came with some sort of stand to mount it for ease of use. However besides that it works perfectly, would definitely recommend.
Excelente construção
Este é o melhor trigger que já tive oportunidade de usar. Super fácil de configurar, os setpoints definidos são excelentes e funciona muito bem. Recomendo a todos os bateristas de qualquer género músical.
The best
Compact, lightweight and sturdy are a few words to describe this module. I've been using this for a year now on rehearsals and gigs without a sweat. Using custom samples (based on following the requirements for bit rate, file type etc), saving and customizing presets, and switching between presets are super easy.
Someone spilled almost a full glass of water on the module during changeover on one gig, I pulled out the batteries and let it dry for a day or two, still works perfectly. This is Rolands quality at its finest, would probably survive a nuclear apocalypse. Been using it with Roland RT-30K and RT-30HR without issues.
No wonder its used by "everyone" who triggers.
Slight disappointment, but does what it needs to
+ Compact size
+ not unnecessarily complicated
+ good selection of sounds including the "elements" for hybrid setups
- only two outputs
- the menus are still slightly 90's and the logic is not as intuitive as it could be
- I have had some issues with the unit not starting properly, freezing and not turning off after that. Sent it to service, and although most of the issues vanished, I've had at least one occurrence still of the startup issue.
This is a sensational product!
I actually use this unconventionally - I use my rhythm stompbox to trigger sounds while performing live. So it's a mutant stompbox now haha. This is super cool guys. Get it get it get it

Roland t-m 2
The t-m 2 is so easy to set up and use, I have tried different drum triggers with sound modules to try and get the best kick drum sound with effects but I was never happy with the overall sound, I used a Roland RT 10K drum trigger on my acoustic kick drum wire to the T-M 2 went through the easy set up from the manual the sensitivity was spot on and the sound through my bands PA was fantastic, no more booming from drum mics job done.
