Great Bass strings

You can spend more money but you won't get a better string!

Favourite bass strings

I use this strings on both of my basses (A PJ Special and a Jazz Fretless), and I couldn't be more satisfied. Whether it's jazz, funk, rock, slap, they just zing their way through just about any genre.

The only problem I've encountered with every set is that the zingyness doesn't last too long, and every now and then I break one (heavy hitting hard rock pick player), but these cons are not enough of an issue for me to not keep them as my go-to strings.

Bright steel strings with excellent sound (while it lasts)

I have used Rotosound steel strings on and off for years and you consistently receive a product with the same pro's and con's.

Pros:

-Bright 'zingy' sound

-Deep, solid low end

-Rough feel (might not be for everyone but I prefer it)

-Nice covered string ends (stops the machine heads from getting scratched)

Cons:

-The tone 'dies' rather quickly, especially if you sweat on stage

-When the tone 'dies' you are left with a clunky, unpleasant tone

-For me the A string seems too light gauge and the D too heavy

To summarise, I absolutely love the bright tone of these strings, but that tone just doesn't last long enough, leading me to look to other brands. Other brands may not be as bright as Rotosounds, but the tone they give you seems to last a lot longer, and can still be pleasing when 'dead'.

Rotosound RS66LD

These are used on a Warwick Rock Bass in a heavy metal band. The sound needed is a heavy deep sound and these strings provide that sound every time.

They are good all round strings and I would recommend for any bass players.

My go-to string, always!!!

I've used these strings for over 20 years and they just get better. The new sealed pouches with colour coded ball-end strings are also a great improvement.

I've found that these strings just give me the tone I am looking for, deep, bright and plenty of mid-range growl.

Use them on all my basses.

Solid Strings

I've used these strings for yours now and they've never let me down. I was them on a Fender MIJ Precision bass and they produce a very versatile sound. One thing to note is the strings are very rough when first opened and take a bit of playing in to smooth them off. They also produce a very bright tone for the first few days but again this does wear off. If you after a very bright tone, you'll probably find you'll go through these strings rather quickly. Mine have been on around a year and are starting to sound a bit lifeless.

Rotosound RS66LD are my long time favourite strings for my vintage Fender Jazz bass. This strings are also piece of history because of all of that famous bass player (Chris Squire, Geddy) that made them popular. Some people say that they are hard on your fingers and frets, but I actually love the feel of them when they are new. It may be strange, it may feel like you have just brushed your fingers with light sandpaper... but i like it! Also i didnt noticed excessive damage to my frets, at least not more than with other roundwound strings. They are very bright when they are new, but they tend to lose some of that zing relatively soon, but I like the sound even after that. I even like the sound of them after 2 months of use. The price is also right.

Rotosound...

This where my first Rotosound strings i played, and i have to say, i like the sound.

Rotosound where the company which introduced the Roundwound Stringtype,

(everybody bevore played Flatwound)

I was looking for new Roundwound, because i dont like the Daddario ones,

and a friend of mine meand this Strings would be great.

I have to say, the sound is good, fits very good with a Precision Bass,

and i could use them for 3 Month.

Then the Sound loose a bit of his "crunch"

A friend of mine had a Problem with the E String, it was dead.

i heard from others that this problem could be, but this happend sometimes even with Erny Ball.

I found it great that Rotosoud use organic material for the Package,

so you dont have so much garbage.

The only strings I use nowadays

Bought these strings initially for their cheap price, but since then these have been the only strings I use.

The sound is sharp and punchy and sound lasts good for a long time.

I use them on my Fender Geddy Lee jazz bass, my Squier vint. mod. precision bass, my Charvel 575XL among others.

I play metal, jazz, fusion, funk, rock and pop and these strings work very well in all the genres.

great bass strings

I have used these ones for years and they are just unbeatable i think. And at a decent price as well.

Best strings for rock IMHO!

I use these as my main strings on all my 'rock' basses. They just have a growl about them that is great and sounds fantastic on Fender basses. They are a little rough, but I think that's the trade off for the tone.

Bass Strings

Those strings are not very even and many say they harm your fingers a bit as they are hard to play because of its rough surface. Well it is kinda true on the one hand, on the other hand those strings are not too hard to pull and they are great to play. Those strings are historical, developed with the help of John Entwistle and played by Prog Rock Giants like Chris Squire and Geddy Lee.

Strung onto the bass being new and fresh they do not have much bass and are very unique and perfect for Rickenbackers and Jazz Basses. Those strings tend to lose their highs very quickly and then sound very different. So everyone should decise onself if you like them or not.
