Remo 16" x 2,5" Ocean Drum Aquarium

These ocean drums are well made and hardwearing. I've seen most of the sizes at different schools I work at, and the quality is consistent. The last ocean drum I had was made using natural goat skin, and while this gave the drum a warmer sound (when striking the drum) that I preferred, it also meant that the sound/tension wasn't consistent as the skin attracted moisture (which resulted in rusty deposits from the metal balls). I haven't had these issues with this ocean drum, but it did cost three times as much as my last one. The fish design makes a nice touch, and supports my use of the name 'ocean drum' in my schools and special needs work.

I am new to frame drums. I have played African drums (djembe and ashiko) for a number of years and just found myself interested in expanding my percussive horizons. I saw this drum while searching around online, I am always skeptical about buying an I strument before playing it. After watching a couple of videos and getting a rough idea about the tonal quality, I decided to bight the bullet and order this drum and I must say I am not disappointed. It sounds great! Built very well, the amount of different sounds you can generate with this drum are incredible and nuanced. The jingle bars that come with it are a great addition, I keep them mostly muted and only use two as I find all four is a lot of extra sizzle. It's a bit on the heavy side for holding it with one hand and playing, but it...

I bought this drum to practice my rhythms and to record some percussion. Although this drum is small, it actually has a nice, deeper than expected sound. You can actually get some slight varied sounds depending on how far or close you hit the center of the drum. You get a deeper sound in the middle and higher tighter sound closer to the edge. The wooden beater was included too so that is another plus! This is also a great instrument for introducing kids to music and for teaching purposes. It?s really easy to play. It?s a lot fun to bring along to a jam too. I would recommend this, good price too!

Afroton AOD 814 Ocean Drum

A gorgeous ocean drum with tonnes of depth and power. Lovely to play into. The sound is slightly muffled, in a way that makes it easy to listen to.... a softness instead of a brightness.... slightly easier on the ears in a room that's not big enough for some others of a similar size. I tend to prefer an ocean drum with a transparent-ish skin so I can see the movement of the bearings. This one is not transparent so that's a slight shame, but honestly, it's still a beauty, and easy to play regardless.

Remo 22" x 2.5" Ocean Drum Aquarium

I work as a music therapist and this ocean Drum is perfect for all ages. The quality is very high and it has an amazing sound. The underwater fish pattern connects very well with the name given to this instrument which helps people to become fsmiliar with its name and sound. It could be quite loud for babies and people with hyperscusis, however its high quality allows you to modulate the sound depending on how you handle it. You don't need to move it too much before it begin making a soft and clear ocean like sound. I have been saving up to get this 22" ocean drum and I am very happy with my purchase. The money spent on it was totally worthy.

I love to beat my drum. I beat it every chance I get. This one is tuneable so I can turn the keys and make it deeper or tighter. sometimes it sounds like a burst tyre so i tweak it a little and it gets more rigid. It penetrates through the music with it's repetitive deep beats and sparkly shimmers from the cymbals. I would highly recommend you buy this drum and beat it well. It will bring you many hours of pleasure on those lonely evenings and when you are 'in the zone' with an audience. Excellent piece of kit.

English translation below. This is my 4th drum for shamanic ritual use. It is a synthetic skin; therefore not sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity. The quality of manufacture is excellent; the sound is a little less deep than the 22 "model. But it is of course much more transportable.

I play shamanic drums for long time, i had many, i have some custom made vegan friendly etc but Remo Buffalo is absolutely the best instrument i have ever own in my life. I have 16” and 22”, 22” is my main drum. I have no idea how they made it but they made a masterpiece. Since i have them (few years) they never change sound, they sound fantastic on recording and are pretty easy to record, they have extreme bass, they are fairly light, full of sounds and they vibrate the way thay you can heatr them singing. If you consider byuing it - do not hesitate, it will be your favorite drum. Thank you Remo for inventing such an amazing piece if instrument with very good price!

I purchased this ocean drum to suppliment a singing bowl sound both. It sounds really realistic, is well made and excellent value compared to the Remo or other brands. I prefer the more traditional construction and materials of the Afroton myself. My only criticsm is that it is VERY loud and difficult to modulate to not be so without loosing some of the characteristics that make it sound authentic. I dont think any of the previous reviews mention the volume - so I am addressing that here if its a concern for you.

The frame has excellent ergonomics. Very nice wood, light and dense. I could play for hours on a frame like that, lapsyle or upright. Finition very nice. I mean it's difficult to ask more, this is really a good job. The bevel on the rim is top. I liked the skin less, i was tired of the matte sound over the months and i ended up putting another skin on this delicious frame. Honestly, the skin was flawless, of very uniform width and everything, but this is a type of skin preparation that i dont enjoy that much, mainly because of the lack of brightness. But let's be clear : this is a matter of personal and acquired taste, and this is something witch evolves, specially within the first couple of years of practice. My advice would be to give it a try and see how you feel with the sound. And...
