Sequential Prophet 6 Reviews
100% analogue heaven.
Great for leads, pads, percussive sounds (even bass drum), bass lines. You can play Bach or Debussy, or Jazz, it will add a certain vibe for you playing. Very versatile synth from the legendairy Dave Smith. You can't go wrong with it. HIGH PASS filter: I would like to point out a unique feature only possible in P6. Make a slow attack, slow decay filter amp, no velocity, you get an organ or accordeon-like sound. Then make LOW pass filter POSITIVE env mod, and HIGH pass filter NEGATIVE env mod. Resulting sound opens up gradually in both direction: a true miracle. I use this for slow Bach fugues. My other favourite feature are the SPRING reverb, apply to any short attack short decay plucky sound. I like it and use on stage, even though I have a pair of real spring reverb.
Love this synth
This synth produce incredible fat and creamy sounds! Great choice for Funk, Jazz and fusion projects. I love every aspect of this piece of gear.
love it
The device has arrived, and I am sitting on it and the smile is not coming from my mouth, what sounds, quality. What a privilege. Thanks
Perfect
I don't know what to say. But... well... I will never sell it
Just amazing!
A really really great synth
Very good analog sound polysynth
The best I have now
Powerhouse 6 voice polysynth from a legendary manufacturer
All in all one of the best modern poly synths available today. Great heritage and a staggering sound quality.
The only thing really missing would be the inclusion of a small screen that could save preset names instead of just numbers.
If you want a poly with some real analog punch then I would recommend a porphet 6 anyday. Well worth the money in my opinion.
Modern Classic
An unbeatable all-round synthesizer that has one foot in the alluring sound of the past, and one foot in the reliable and economic present.
Not quite as 'alive' and exciting as an original Prophet 5, but n'or does it claim to be. The VCO's sound great, if a little precise, much preferable to the DCOs on the Prophet 8 etc. The drift function really brings some vintage wonkiness to the synth, in an organic and pleasing way.
Limited in some regards, particularly in terms of modulation, but I do not see this as a deficit, rather a strength in getting beautiful big classic synth sounds.
Great sequencer, arp, and FX section. I particularly like the analogue distortion for adding grit, and texture.
Fantastic build quality, as expected. Definitely one that will be in the studio for a very long time. Scratches the vintage itch without the pains of servicing and problems.
Another winner from Dave Smith
I'm only scratching the surface of the sounds it can create, but sonically this is a very impressive synth.
The FX add a certain amount of creativity when designing patches that his other synths generally don't have.
The wood finish however isn't so rich as you see in the pictures. But this is excusable, it's a tool not a jewel.
Sounds beautiful
I've owned several vintage analog synths over the years and finally got tired of most of them not working or breaking at a critical moment. So a few years ago I sold all of my analog synths and went digital. I love digital flexibility and I like the sound too, but it's nice to have some analog added in once and while. And the Prophet 6 is the perfect synth for that -- sounds fantastic!
Better than a Prophet 5
In many ways it is just like a Prophet 5, but it also has an arpeggiator, a sequencer, aftertouch and some rather good effects. It is beautiful and solid. Sounds wonderful. Is there a better poly synth on the market? I think it is easily the best performance synth on the market!
