I bought this to record floor toms / bass drums / cajon etc with but it has not left my 16" floor tom. Fantastic clarity with a full bottom end to capture the full spectrum for a rich, punchy sound.
The super cardioid pickup pattern rejects off axis sound very well without colouration. It allows me to position the mic a little further away from the batter head to allow the full sound to develop rather than have it hanging only an inch or so over the top.
Very pleased with this mic. Reliable, solid construction too from Shure as always.
