Shure KSM 313/NE Dual
Ribbon Microphone

Amazing for vocals and near miking
Turn it 180° for more crisp in the hi-end. Amazing for "damp", warm vocals (NOT classical or opera or otherwise clean tones with less harmonic overtones). I can imagine it would give a nice fuzz to banjo and violin. Since it doesn't output that much energy, it works wonders in less acoustically treated rooms- meaning it minimises pickup of reflections. No room-miking!
